  3. Mine...
  4. Let me correct you…. 1. OP buys a bass 2. Bass has a badly bowed neck, scratchy pots and the top is mismatched 3. OP returns bass and retailer says they will check the replacement before sending 4. Replacement bass isn’t book matched at all, worse still the wood on the other half is a totally different shade 5. Rather than ranting, OP post a picture on here to check other people’s opinions to make sure he is being reasonable in rejecting the bass 6. 90%+ of people who expressed an opinion think it is unacceptable 7. Possible millionaire owner of guitarguitar exiled somewhere in Belgium starts ranting on this thread🤣
  5. There’s a bit of a story about that one if anyone is interested, it was one of Aston Barrett’s early basses originally ,and when he started touring with the wailers he gave it to Robbie, Robbie thinks he might have played the Hofner on the Wailers Concrete Jungle recording
  6. That’s great news, John. I look forward to coming to see your band! I will definitely keep my ears and eyes open for potential band mates and point them in your direction. Also, over the last few months I’ve made a concerted effort to sample the open-mic and jam nights in and around the fair city of Derby. When it’s appropriate, drop me a line and I can pass on my recommendations for the launch of Level Neville.
  7. Hi Rich, you still looking? If it's the same size as the CV Jazz one, I can post it off to you.
  8. Yup. The agreed 25 quid seems the easiest - the path of least resistance (as I suggested earlier). Re the OP, the questions was 'would it bother me?' My answer, a resounding yes.
  9. Hanging it from the ceiling's gonna be a job....
  10. Personally I’d just pay the return postage, mark it down to experience and get looking for another bass
  11. Why are people getting het up about this? As far as I understand it, the only quibble here is whether or not the aesthetic quality of the top of this bass is a fault or not. Some say yay, some say nay. Ultimately the vendor's covered by the Ts and Cs, they don't consider it to be a fault, so honestly I'd take the offer of getting it picked up for £25 and move on. Yes, they've been a bit rum and heavy handed about it - it's been escalated and a compromise offered. Whether or not I would have allowed it out of my factory is irrelevant (but in case you're wondering - I wouldn't).
  12. I truly think you didn't read the entire thread, and certainly not my crystal clear posts, or maybe you didn't understand what I was talking about regarding the OP's rant. So here it is even more clearly exposed: 1. OP buys a bass. 2. OP doesn't like it. 3. OP sends it back and asks for replacement. 4. OP gets it and find it's badly bookmatched. 5. OP asks for another replacement arguing that the top is badly mismatched, not correctly bookmatched. 6. Seller says OP has to pay the return fee, because there's no fault. 7. OP starts a rant here. 8. Everybody, but me starts ranting. 9. I explained why this is inadmissible to get a free return in this case. 10. Nobody reads the thread and the arguments, but push the rant further away. 11. My blood pressure is fine, but I really can't stand bad faith.
  13. The Sad Milkman — The Handsome Family
  14. This looks great - and I think your process bang on i.e. record properly and mime, and find a video wizard to mash it up 👌
  15. To my ears, That sounds like a P-bass (or neck pickup at least?) Roundwound strings A healthy dose of Compression And I think I detect a pinch of Pitch modulation i.e Flanging or Chorus just to give it all a bit of ‘3D’ shimmer? That should get you in the ballpark…
  16. Yes my first real bass combo as the amp shown above but as a 15" combo, probably only pushed about 60-80 watts into the one 8 ohm speaker but always seemed loud enough, bought in about mid 80's mine was with Compressor as pictured no flange in sight. I wish i still had the 70's 4x12 Marshal and 100watt guitar head it replaced, it would be worth a fortune now. but +not giggable in my car at the time.
  17. Just ordered an MPC Key 37, and I blame you guys. Demn you all. I had no idea about this type of product, but I get the idea there's a lot of fun built into that thing, and that it integrates well with a DAW. Also, with limited width and weight, for travelling, right now it looks handier than my four-octave keyboard + desktop synth. Now wary of the above mentioned paralysis and unintuitivity, but I'll try and treat those as much needed training for the grey cell. Thanks, guys! Bert
  18. Why do people like your drummer, singer and guitarist bother to be part of bands (very busy lives) there surely has to be a good degree of time commitment to make any band work, especially if you are gigging.
  19. Bass arrived safely. Pros Great build quality Perfect set up Looks great Plays great Cons On the slightly heavier side but not too bad. At £399 this was a bargain. However, not sure I would pay the £599 RRP.
  20. Taking these to be sold at a shop next Tuesday, get in touch if you would like them before then!
  21. Your ire is such that you missed the point that no reason is necessary, therefore nothing is inadmissible. I'll spare your blood pressure and leave it there.

  23. I know what you mean. I find this one quite comfy but that’s possibly more to do with the thumb rest.
