Christmas present ideas for bassists

It's as true now as it was last year. Truerer in fact. -
Can try to whisper it to us?
-
Didn't notice it before, but the fretboard dots just...stop. I think they get away with it on the 4003S as it is only 3 frets, but the 5 blank frets on these look a bit odd.

My stingray neck needs adjustment quite often, it’s roasted (pretty sure anyway) . It’s one of the later ones, charcoal sparkle, yet my USA Sterling is very stable and a fair bit older. They’re both stored in the same room in the house too. X

Immaculate German Sadowsky 5 MJ Limited Edition bass for sale. I got this on a trade swap on here for my Roscoe, and added £200 on top, so owes me £2100. This bass is absolutely stunning, but I’m finding that I’m still just using my Will Lee 5 for everything. It’s as new, with just a minute mark on the back of the neck, as shown in the photos- I knew it was there, but had to try and find it, it’s that small. I’ve gigged it once, but I doubt if it’s had many gigs at all, before I got it. Comes with the Sadowsky gig bag, and all of the stuff inside. Weight on my scales is 7lbs 4 ounces- and feels super lightweight on a strap. There’s a few YouTube videos of this model, but this is the Limited Edition run- I think they do one every year. I’m not prepared to ship this, so a meet up will be good. Trade wise - PJ5 or P5. (US Lakeland, Vincent Akkurat, Jap Sadowsky, Nash etc). Either of these with monies either way. Or maybe a Sadowsky metroline M5. Thanks for looking. If you want anymore pictures, then just message. Paul

I ended up getting a cool strap and some flatwounds after checking my giftcardmall balance from something I got last year. Wasn’t sure what I wanted at first, but having that balance gave me an excuse to grab stuff I wouldn’t normally buy myself. Sometimes the fun is just picking out the gear anyway. -
Anyone got any experience selling a neck?
Thrillho_12 replied to Thrillho_12's topic in General Discussion
That's great advice! I'm very new still so didn't know if it would just get buried and never looked at ever again. So hard for me to know if I was doing something wrong or not :') Very happy to be patient and maybe think about adding some tuners. Thanks for sharing your experience -

Was the Rickenbacker neck pickup positioned at the magical 24th fret position? It woud be on the neck

I'd like to test a few side by side in a shop and I'm in Central London once a week but can only think of the Yamaha shop and the Roland shop, are there any central ones that have multiple brands and testing rooms? I suppose a day trip to Andertons might be in order (I'll get sidetracked by the Bass guitars though!).

Beedster replied to Thrillho_12's topic in General Discussion
Hi mate, I've sold loads! A neck will sell quicker if it has tuners as it can be a real PITA for the buyer to find which particular set(s) which fits which particular Fender/Squier model (and as I found recently they can often be out of stock in the UK also). Also money is tight, while you list the full Fender RRP, similar roasted maple MIM necks can be bought new from Amazon for not a whole lot more than you're asking. I'm not saying your neck's not worth it by any means, just that you might need to lower the price a bit if you want it to sell quickly (and re selling it quickly, you did only list it two weeks ago, this is a slow time of year, folks saving their cash for the Xmas onslaught). Also, unless you defo need cash, you'll often do better looking for trades/PX here 👍 - Today

Have been unable to shift the Vintera P Bass Neck I had listed on here so I was wondering if anyone had any advice for selling a neck? Either on the forum or elsewhere? Want this to go to a home and to also recoup a bit of the cost of replacing the neck. I don't use social media so haven't looked on FB. Is gumtree a viable option? Any help or insight anyone has is really appreciated. Apologies if this isn't the right place to post.

Thanks for your help. A couple of small holes on the head will go with the dings on the body. Its got a good bit of mojo already!

I think you'll have some trouble finding a like for like replacement - they haven't used that style of tuner for a long time now. If you're lucky you'll find someone in the same position as you having already done a complete tuner change and have some spares they're willing to sell. But as usual with these kind of things it'll be a case of "right place, right time". As for replacements, depends how picky you want to be regarding the cosmetic results. I think you will be fortunate to find anything with the same screw pattern - later BBs (such as the BB414) used a simpler mechanical design (no adjustable tension collet thing) but look like they might have a similar footprint/screw pattern, but the buttons are a more traditional elephant ear versus the heart shape.
