In my experience as a former sound engineer, these shocks are caused by potential differences in the earths between your mixer and your PA, backline amps etc. If it is a small system, and everything is plugged into the same socket, it is usually fine. The problem comes when you have your on-stage gear plugged into one socket/ring main, and your mixer our front in another and they don't have a fully shared resistance free common earth. Any potential difference then takes the fastest route to earth via you and your mouth when you get close enough to the mic, especially if you're holding a guitar. The best way is to take a marked up XLR cable for the mic with the ground (pin 1) disconnected at one end. This will act as a ground lift (like the switch on a DI box) and should stop the belts in the mouth. Obviously this may cause the mic feed to be noisier in certain venues as you've removed the ground, but that could be the better of the two evils. I remember doing this about 25 years ago with the band Nine Below Zero at the venue I worked at. The venue was desperate to open but the lead singer was still soundchecking, strumming his guitar and getting shocks. I got one of the crew to open up his XLR, cut the connection to pin one, tape it up and put it back together in front of him. He stood there and watched in disbelief thinking we were idiots. He put the lead back together just as the venue manager decided to close the curtain and let everyone in. As the crowd ran in to get their positions, the lead singer strummed behind the curtains with just the monitors on (that were still loud in the venue) and went "Hey mate - either that was lucky guess or you'r a f***ing genius!" We kept that lead but hardly ever had complaints that would mean we needed to use it again - I assume it may have been something to do with his amp, perhaps earthing him faster through the mic, rather than the other way round.

I run a pair of those from a Livetrak L12 (so I guess running in stereo) and have never noticed any latency. I used to run them from an old Mackie desk (that must have been mono) and don’t notice any difference. Could be just me thought! I’m bowled over I can hear myself wirelessly (at all) 😂.

I recommend getting a Powerball, which you can get from Amazon. I had some problems early on and it was a good way of improving my strength. Obviously, I would advise seeking medical advice too but the Powerball really helped.

It's usually not the bass playing itself; it's the bass playing showing up the effect of something else. Eg bad posture when typing at a computer. I've had: a frozen shoulder so I couldn't bow...that was triggered by falling off my bike. Left hand pins and needles making finguring hard... Sleeping with a hand behind my head. Right hand cramps ...that was resting my hand on the desk when using a mouse. Tennis elbow .. tennis initially, then....don't know but bass playing doesn't make it worse. Those clamp things help. Left hand rsi...that may have been over-practice on a fat necked 5 string electric bass. I think eBasses are far more injuries due to the angle they put in your left wrist. Sometimes a physio will sort this stuff out...but it's hit and miss. Think " what hurts,and how might I have hurt it?" Then stop doing that thing. Rest and stretches too.

At this stage I think its just down to if the Anagram has the features you need right now. Its far too early to see what their feature release cadence will be or where the platform will be a year from now. If you're ok with the footprint of the QC, its a pretty mature ecosystem which already does a lot. The capture collection is vast too, I found everything I was looking for, even less common stuff. I'm intrigued by the Anagram but not really interested in any of the stock preamps/drives and most of the stuff I’d want is absent from the NAM captures. If the capture process was a bit more refined and they had a better variety of non-darkglass stuff covered out of the box itd be a far more tempting proposition for me personally.

I started a clear out o few days ago . Then the heatwave got out of hand again midweek ….🥵! The clear out started with me having a fiight with the rather large tv and soundbar boxes , which were purchased earlier this year . I purchased a Mac mini yesterday , which is connected to the tv in my front room. The idea now is to transfer the stuff from my 2017 iMac onto that ! I may purchase a MacBook possibky on Black Friday / Christmas so that in theory, I have 2 places to record my GarageBand efforts when I get inspired / not being lazy …

I like boss compact pedals, and have over a dozen of them so I want to like this, but I don't like the idea of microtransactions.

The Bugera Veyron M arrived yesterday (very well packaged I might add). Tested it last night and all works fine. 2 noticeable things. It's loud. Also it sounds really nice. Had it set up in the living room and my wife suddenly said "that sounds good". (Although it may have been a comment on my playing 😄). When I've had a chance to use it properly I might even do a new amp thread. Thanks again everyone
