tuner reccommendations?

What tuner do you use? and why? I'm looking for something to replace my no-name eBay five quid lump of cr@p and would like some opinions if anyone has any prefernces, dislikes, warnings, etc,

Pedal type, i'd go for a Boss TU-2 and if a rack tuner floats your boat, one of the Korg DTR's. Both well built, very accurate and not too expensive. If you're wanting the most accurate and presets for alternate tunings, look at the PETERSON stuff.

I use a Korg Pitchblack. It has a nice clear display, it's simple and easy to use, it picks up the low B-string of my 5-string bass easily, I can use it as a mute switch as it's a pedal tuner, it doesn't add any noise to the signal, it's compact, and at around £55, it's good value too IMO.

I can't recommend the Sonic Research "Turbo Tuner" enough. The superlative pedal tuner IMO.

I've had my Boss TU2 for years. It has never let me down (touch wood). I don't use it as a pedal as it sits on top of my cab and goes direct into my amp.

+1 for the Korg DT10 - excellent bit of kit.

The one I wouldn't recommend is the Behringer rack tuner. Slow and doesn't track well

My preference is the TU2 though. Borrowed one for a few weeks, loved it, bought my own.

im more than happy with my fender DPT-100, it has a detachable base so can be used as a pedal or not, pretty cool idea plus bang on tuning and tracks uber quick. just wish my guitarist didnt like it as much

Yup. I leant mine to a friend and am not that bothered about getting it back. Rubbish. It had troubles with Eb, so I'm sure it wouldn't handle B either.

The Peterson Strobostomp gets very good reports, though a little pricey by comparison. Has also been known to excite some controversy here on Basschat.

For cheap ones that you can buy two or three of and leave in bass cases, the old Tanglewood ones are good (not sure about the current ones, I haven't tried one), and the Korg CA-30.

It's not wildly accurate I don't think, but it's good enough and it's very handy. I use it a key ring for my case keys.

This is mine. I've had no problems with it and it seems to be accurate. Totally bomb proof too, it feels like it's made from the armour plating they use on tanks

I'm happy enough with my Fender PT100 pedal tuner. Has muted and unmuted outputs. about £40.

Korg CA30. Nine quid new,fits in case and at that price can afford 2 or 3! Works fine too.

Don't know about anyone else, but I always tune my Musicman after its been out of its case in the room where the gig is for say 30 mins.
Can honestly say have never needed to retune it during a gig EVER, not even in the hottest sweatiest pub! Am I just lucky (or deaf?)
