seeing 2/3 of Rush live again would be cool &I doubt Geedy/Alex would go out with a sub if they felt this was in anyway degrading to neil's legacy, when i heard they were thinking of going out again i half expected that either of the mikes (Portny/Mangini) or Virgil Donati would be in the seat as all 3 are Prog Gods of the drum stool!

I saw "RUSH" on the washing machine tour at the NEC years ago, they were great and im glad i saw them but the sound was SO bad, far to loud and so much room clatter i came away with a migraine...i'll stick with a show of hands A.I. Upscaled ;)

If you're a fan of long-standing you'll know the first album is considered by many fans to not be 'proper' Rush - and not just because it's little more than slavish Led Zep fan service. In the same sense the Lee/Lifeson/Milles/whoever the keyboard guy is lineup's also not 'proper' Rush.

I probably said this in the last thread but I'd have a lot more respect for them if they'd gone out as 'Geddy, Alex & Friends Perform The Music Of Rush'. This just feels horribly cynical - they spent their whole career against the grain, refusing to compromise or take the easy path, always making the music that they wanted to make, whether or not it alienated fans, freaked out the record label suits or felt like a weird, naive mistake in retrospect.

They always seemed resolutely Not For Sale. I'm now wondering how much of that artistic bloodymindedness was down to Peart?

I'm sure there are some fans that feel that way. I'm not one of them.

Some of them are probably the same people that think From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass are not Genesis albums and that Phil Collins turned the band into "Genesis" 🤷‍♂️.

It's definitely going to sound different, but I'm fine with that. Must be great for Ged not having to deal with both bass and keys as well this time.

I prefer to think of it as a celebration of the work that Neil was a huge part of rather than a money making exercise as a result of his death.

Yes, they will make money, but more power to them for going out again. Neil will be remembered and honoured every single night.

Totally gobsmacked they are playing Glasgow as so many large acts these days do not visit north of the border on tour. For anyone worried about the expense of staying over to see the show I would suggest booking a room at the Premier Inn within a few minutes walking distance of Glasgow Airport which is actually situated in Paisley around 8 to 10 miles away from Glasgow city centre. You can walk from the Premier Inn to Paisley Gilmour St train station in around 15 minutes on a main road and from there is a 10 minute train journey to Central station in Glasgow and then maybe a 20 minute walk along the waterfront to the OVO Hydro venue.

My advice would be not to linger in Glasgow after the show but catch first train back to Paisley then enjoy a few pints at the pub adjoining the Gilmour St train station then you can walk back to your hotel right next to the airport.

I turned this down today when asked based on anticipated price and the fact that my mob always go for good seats, stay the night, have a good feed and a few scoops too. It gets very expensive. I conservatively calculated a £400 night out all in. £200 ticket, £200 transport, accommodation, meal out, drinks. They'll probably take the train and that'll take it up a bit. That's the price of a main dealer B Service + brake fluid change on the car.

It's also going to be over a year away from buying the tickets and that seems a long time. It's also mid-March, which is when we tend to go away.

I saw Rush 3 times in the past. Fabulous but not £400+ fabulous in 2027.

I saw the Scorps on the Blackout tour.

I saw them on animal magnetism and blackout. Gigs were so cheap back then.

She is phenomenal..but I can’t imagine her moving around so much as Neil did . I can’t see the warmth .

Moving? I am sure she has to move to reach all the drums! I am sure she is going to be fine and don't really get the 'it isn't rush without Neil' - i mean it was rush before he was in it, so it can be rush afterwards.

Plus of course Geddy’s voice is not what it was.

That is why I wouldn't go.

I am sure it would be expensive etc, but all those things are now, especially when there are only 4 in the uk, so sound is going to be bad because it is in the O2, and geddy hasn't been able to sing rush songs for a very long time, so hardly seems worth it.

They were always my favourite group for most of my life, so I will leave those memories intact!

I’m looking forward to seeing them again. Must admit I was disappointed with the Clockwork Angels tour - didn’t think the album was strong enough to be played in its entirety.

I’m 270 miles north of Glasgow so all gigs are a bit of a trek. I have to turn my gig trips into a short vacation to justify the travel and expense.

And of course I have the best part of a year to start saving!

Bring it on.

They're also playing Amsterdam. I'm afraid of the ticket prices but I think I'll probably go. I've never seen them live and I'd love to see Geddy at least once...

Each to their own - I think it's one of their best albums (bar the one track which they didn't play anyway).

With the exception of a couple of tracks, I think it was a miserable album to go out on. Generic, overproduced rock, drained of life.

Again, IMO.

Interesting how people see things differently.

Clockwork Angels is my 2nd most listened to Rush album after (of course) Moving Pictures; I get the imagery of the journey the protagonist is on and The Garden is a fitting finale.

(That said, I like lots of other Rush albums too, so there may be a cigarette paper's width between them all.)

I’d love to hear a less dense mix of it, I’m not a fan of Nick Raskulinecz‘s production. Paging Steven Wilson!

From my perspective I miss the days when you could tell they'd written songs, and brought them to the studio, rather than assembled a load of riffs and figured out what to do with them.

I also miss the classic bass / drums / guitar instrumental breaks... A Farewell to Kings, Digital Man, Freewill, Distant Early Warning, Marathon, Camera Eye etc. the bits of interplay you'd really look forward to.

They're noticeable by their absence on most of the later albums.

I've just seen the 2027 dates and I live close to Helsinki, the last last gig on the tour. I'm not surprised Geddy and Alex want to go out and play live, as they obviously enjoy it (more than Neil I think who wanted to stop touring and G & A were disappointed but respected his decision) so I think something like this was inevitable (after all the alternative is to give up something you love doing?). I'm pleased they've got Anika on drums as she'll bring a different spin. She's technically proficient to play the songs without being a replacement Peart 'sound-a-like' which would be the wrong way to go and from what I've read the guys really enjoy playing with her.

I'll definitely be going, I think the only element of concern is obviously Geddy's vocals... hopefully he'll have some guest vocalists but otherwise we'll enjoy it for what it is.

Thats how it seems to me. There isn't too much in it, and my favourite album changes depending on when I am asked, but it never goes past Hold Your Fire

£300 on the floor.

More than I guessed but I was out anyway.

Wow.  Much as I love/loved Rush, that’s a lot. I’ll wait for the eventual DVD, because the sound and the view will be better. I don’t have a particular problem with new drummer/keys players, but that’s a lot of money for something I have found mostly unsatisfying when going to stadium-sized gigs in the past.

I got incredibly lucky with the waiting room and got an amazing seat for a price I'm happy with on the second night in London. Looking forward to it.

However, this is really annoying:

I can see three good seats in a row. I can't buy one ("There is a minimum of 2 tickets for this ticket type"), nor can I buy two ("Stranded single tickets are not allowed, please adjust your selection"), nor can i buy three ("You must select 2 tickets together")

😬

😖
