Mrbigstuff Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Well I watched thirty minutes of Charlie XCX to see what the fuss was about. What a disgrace. Miming, no band, just nothing but a flashing screen and a recording. Shouldn’t be allowed at Glastonbury. 5 Quote

Yeah she had a Westone Thunder, a Fender of some sort (looks kind of like a Jaguar but not sure), and another thing that I have no idea what it is! Quote

I know her old drummer Debbie, who now plays with James and my niece's band . The all female band was drummer, electric guitarist and bass player which, visually, looked a lot better on stage. The last time I saw Charlie XCX, at Glastonbury, her stage show looked even worse, as she was on earlier in the day in daylight, so she didn't even have a light show - just her gyrating on the stage to pre-recorded tracks. If it was then it’s possibly the poshest bass so far 😂 Ironic, given he only seemed to be playing 4 notes. Dullest act by miles, landfill indie personified. 1 1 Quote
mowf Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I chanced upon Father John Misty’s set and absolutely loved it. The bass player wasn’t doing anything flash but he was totally in the pocket, gorgeous tone out of a Gibson Triumph. Really cool. 2 1 Quote
MacDaddy Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I haven't got regular telly, but it seems Neil Young was broadcast on the BBC? Quote

YellowLedBetterBass Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Catching up with Inhalers set now. My favourite bass tone of the festival so far - I really need to get a p bass. Edit - he's now pulled out the gold Jack Casady which also sounds fantastic and is making me think maybe it's actually the Ampeg behind him that I want. Thank goodness she isn't stupid. Gender identity starts with an individual's right to self identify as their gender of choice. Gender is a social construct, society is always changing and members of society have the freedom to build their own gender identity. Stonewall define gender as "A person’s innate sense of being a man, woman, non-binary or another gender". I think Raye is using her platform on national television to support our non-binary friends at a time when they are literally under attack for simply being who they are. More power to her. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gender_identities 8 Quote
ian61 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Neil Young. Loved the way the band slowed Glastonbury down to a crawl. Long breaks between tunes. Lazy out of tune soloes, and the band all shuffling around on a piece of stage the size of an iPhone. Id forgotten how good some of his early stuff actually was. 2 Quote
Doctor J Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago There's a disappointing lack of costume chat here. Many reviews of the festival mention how many costume changes each artist does in their set. It's almost as if you snooty musos think such things don't matter. Don't get me started on the absence of dance chat Quote
Doctor J Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The bit that tells me this kind of world has left me behind is encapsulated in this review of one of yesterday's headliners
...rise over the past year has been nothing short of phenomenal and, while fans await her debut album...
Not enough material for an album yet but you're headlining a stage at this festival? Must be very good at dancing, I suppose. 1 Quote

I think it may have featured in the Live Rust film. It was battered enough to be the same prop, even if the instrument inside has changed. 1 Quote

And remember, you'll never reason a person out of a position they did not reason themselves into. Anyway - moving away from politically sensitive issues*, I don't pay the BBC Compulsory Subscription, but am looking forward to hearing how dear old Rod the Sod endured a hail of p!ss bottles for the duration of his set. *Oops. 2 Quote
