msb Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Those are wonderful. I have an older Ray , big chunky neck , G string is slightly soft , classic 3 band eq and I keep it close to the couch so it’s handy to pick up. 1 Quote
wavemaker Posted May 25 Posted May 25 The neck profile is really comfortable, too: Slender side to side, chunky front to back, the latter then again being somewhat remedied by the tiny vintage frets, which I‘ll personally choose over jumbos any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Which it is, and I did, I guess. Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I'm definitely out. I've dropped a fortune on a boutique bass. OK, actually it's a dirt cheap Kay Gremlin the owner wants to go to a loving home... it can be mates with my Kay Tulip. 5 Quote
Richard R Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 We forgave the plectrums @Stub Mandrel, but a bass is a bass, so you're out. At least I assume it's a bass you bought. But when I googled "Kay Gremlin", this is the first image I got back: 6 Quote
BabyBlueSound Posted Thursday at 12:56 Posted Thursday at 12:56 Well this didn't take too long. I entered the game on the 16th of April. And now... 3 Quote
bass_dinger Posted Friday at 06:13 Posted Friday at 06:13 Tier 2 fail for me. I am now the owner of an EMU Classic Keys Module, formerly owned by @ash. I can use the midi capability on my Kurzweil SP76 to drive it. Sadly, I don't yet have much piano playing capability to play it well, but so far I am enjoying the extra sounds. 2 Quote
Suburban Man Posted Friday at 11:55 Posted Friday at 11:55 Thinking that I may as well be hung for a sheep (ie a seriously expensive bass) as for a lamb (Rich's excellent EBS Session 60), I have just blown the year's budget on this very beautiful Duesenberg Motown Bass Almost too beautiful to play, but not quite... 12 Quote
msb Posted Friday at 13:03 Posted Friday at 13:03 I like big hollow body basses , and I love the look of that Deusenberg. Nice sheep. Quote

Not baaa-d at all. 🐑 Glad you like the Session 60. The Smoothound is great - one less wire on the floor and makes practice a bit easier and therefore a bit more frequent. 1 Quote
BabyBlueSound Posted Friday at 16:17 Posted Friday at 16:17 Haha already got on the wall of shame, and I still want a Wampler Ego 76 at some point... 😁 can live without... yet... 1 Quote
mikebass456 Posted Friday at 16:26 Posted Friday at 16:26 I almost bought an audio interface for recording into my laptop, before reading on the Google thing that I can use my zoom Hn4 for this very purpose! Still out though, as I bought a Hype 8 monitor earlier this month! 🤭 1 Quote
Mudpup Posted Friday at 16:57 Posted Friday at 16:57 Strike me off the list for I have sinned big time...... Just snuck in before the start on NYE with a MarkBass 5 string Gloxy, a GR800 head and a GR AT212 cab and was hopeful of making it to the finish. Fast forward 5 months and they've all been moved on and replaced with a Spector Pulse 5 string with an LHZ preamp, a Bugera Veyron amp and an LFSys Monaco cab. Next year is a dead cert win..... 9 Quote
Richard R Posted Friday at 20:45 Author Posted Friday at 20:45 Was all that gear obtained in one go?? That is big time! 1 Quote

Mudpup Posted yesterday at 16:33 Posted yesterday at 16:33 Maybe the guilty ones should have a sweep. Fiver a ticket and winner takes all. They can use it to buy some gear and immediately get binned from the 2026 event. 4 Quote
