No, not really my cup of tea, but you’ve prompted me to check if Shonen Knife are playing Manchester… and it’s a night I can’t make. Drat! Hope you have a blast! 1 Quote

Richard R Posted Saturday at 20:39 Posted Saturday at 20:39 Joanne Shaw Taylor is fabulous in concert! I've seen her twice in Birmingham UK. She's playing Wolverhampton in September, so I should try to get tickets. Quote
dmccombe7 Posted Saturday at 21:11 Posted Saturday at 21:11 Not sure this counts but i'm hoping to go see a local band called Nightfly who are playing The Dreadnought in Bathgate the day after we play. Its a Sun afternoon gig week tomorrow. These guys were possibly the first band i ever saw when i was 17 in our local rock venue in Wishaw (The Heathery Bar). They've changed their name from Fire Brigade to Nightfly over the years and at one point in 80-90's they were called Isis but for obvious reasons they had to change the band name. They cover bands like Supertramp, Joe Satriani, Steely Dan, Gabriel, It Bites, Santana and they even did a Toto tribute one night. Fantastic musicians. Bass player uses an Overwater fretted 6 stringer and is the main singer in the band. 4 piece band with bass, drums, guitar and keys. Been meaning to go see them for a few yrs now and just never managed. When i mentioned i was interested in going on the gig advert the Owner of the Dreadnought jokingly offered to put a bed in the dressing room if i wanted to sleep over save going home and back again. 😂 (i think he was joking but you never know as they are a brilliant venue to play in) Love a good old blether with owner and manager and we always get the same SE Pete who is also a bass player so i always get a great sound. Ordered this one to the Future Past tour in 2023 at at O2. I also found Steve's bass sounded better, more bass rather than highs. At least how it sounded to me. Quote

But other than that - excellent gig, probably one of, if not the, best IM shows I’ve seen. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it, except the heat 😆 2 Quote
paul j h Posted Sunday at 07:20 Posted Sunday at 07:20 Ani DiFranco tonight at Cardiff New Theatre, I have been a fan since the first album over twenty five years ago. Really looking forward to it, although sad act that I am, I am going on my own as no one else I know likes her enough to come along. Quote
Richard R Posted Sunday at 19:40 Posted Sunday at 19:40 Tim Minchin, Birmingham Symphony Hall, July 9th. Should be good fun. Spare ticket going if anyone's interested- see the Recycling forum. Quote
Bassybert Posted Sunday at 21:26 Posted Sunday at 21:26 (edited) Stevie Wonder in Cardiff on 9th July then Neil Young with Cat Stevens at Hyde Park on 11th, then Smashing Pumpkins with my 15yo daughter in London on 10th August. Took her to watch Guns and Roses at Villa Park last week as well which she really enjoyed, and I also saw Mike Watt with MSSV a couple of weeks ago in Bristol. Pipe that live music right into my veins 😂 Edited Sunday at 21:27 by Bassybert 2 Quote

We were rear standing. Got as far forward as we could for the first part, not far from the mosh pit behind the mixing tent. Sound was so-so there, but could see bugger all of the stage. My wife started to feel a little claustrophobic towards the end of their main set, so we made our way to the back to get an overpriced drink from the bar. The sound at the back was a blurry mess, reverberating throughout the whole stadium. If we do a big arena or stadium gig again, I'll pay the premium for front standing or seating close to the stage like we did for Queen and Def Leppard several years ago - much better sound. Otherwise, the show looked great... what we saw of it on the big screens. We left just as the encores started to beat the rush to the train station - hundreds of others were doing the same thing - a bit of a shame, but we heard the ones we wanted to hear (although I would've liked to have heard the crowd joining in with 'Fear of the Dark'). We really enjoyed Halestorm's set too. I've never really listened to them before - the wife said she sounded like a heavier Lady GaGa... she's not wrong! Si600 Posted Tuesday at 09:08 Posted Tuesday at 09:08 (edited) Iron Maiden in Bremen in a fortnight this evening. I'd hoped they'd come to Hamburg, but I've invited my school mate who along with me is also 50 this year (funny that!) and his wife so we'll make a weekend of it. Matt and I will go to the concert whilst the wives can babysit our littleun. 2 is a bit young still for an evening concert, but he'll get there Edited Tuesday at 09:08 by Si600 Errant extra "is" 1 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted Tuesday at 21:32 Posted Tuesday at 21:32 I just turned down a free Stevie Wonder ticket 😭 I will be out in the heat all day and I know I won't be up to standing in a castle all night, no matter how good the gig. Quote

TimR Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 20250628_195601.mp4 I finished work late on Saturday afternoon about 5:30, saw the Maiden fans heading for Canary Wharf tube. Stopped for a quick beer before heading home and decided to see if I could get a ticket. An hour and half later and I'm in the stadium with a front standing ticket... 3 Quote
