Rickenbacker customer service

Given the raging debate surrounding the suitability of John Hall to run the Rickenbacker (or any) company, I wondered if any of you had read this.

It's a real eye-opener if you read the chain of correspondence all the way through. Not to mention some of the subsequently posted personal experiences of a couple of folk who happen to know John Hall and his wife.

NOTE to John Hall: The above is not the opinion of cloudburst or of Basschat. It is merely a reference to a customer service incident which has previously been published elsewhere on the Internet. This post is free of Rickenbacker porn and Rickenbacker copy porn.

He has lost the plot hasn't he. It's not like they're everyone's sup of tea in the first place, now he seems intent on making them an even more niche product by alienating current and potential customers. As one of the respondents said, customer service is everything.

I definitely wouldnt deal with them directly, and i actually like Rics!

The only new Ric ive ever had from new had to go back to the shop and me getting my money back due to the paint shearing off the body near the bridge after a month's use. Certainly would thnk twice about ever buying a new one. And given Hall's recent shenanigans i would rather buy second hand.

Interestingly one of the bridge pins fell out of that bass as well... QC at Ric appears to be poor which is a shame as the bass itself was an absolute delight to play (as Dood will testify to after giving it a workout when i bought it)

Good read! It is worth noting that the date on the original complaint was 1997 though...

Just goes to show that the terrible attitude & contempt for their customers isn't a recent development.

Is this where the expression "getting screwed " comes from ? Absolutely disasterous public relations from Rickenbacker . If just one person has decided not to buy a new Rick because of this thread , then they will need to sell a lot of screws to make up for that .

You have to admire the sheer bloody - mindedness of this mob . They seem downright mental , and they don't seem to care a jot what anybody thinks about it . The more I hear about this man and his company , the more I like him . I'm getting interested in buying a Rickenbacker !

That's his fiendishly cunning plan - by the end of the month the forum will be called "Rickchat", every other make will have been ousted from discussion & we will all have sleepwalked right into it.

John Hall is a pig.

I prefer to think of the factory workers and CNC machines when I enjoy my 4003 and keep that arrogant asshat from my thoughts as much as possible.

Careful man, you may get accused of a personal attack on JH!

Thank God it's not just me, then. I've got quite serious GAS for a Ric as a result of all these shenanigans. It has to be a real one, mind - and I don't care if the copies are superior - IT HAS TO BE A REAL ONE!! :gas:
