[/quote] Lets think other musical styles that use Precisions: metal - used by loads of players (Geezer Butler, Steve Harris etc) punk - Clash, Pistols, etc slap - check out Forget me Nots with Freddie Washington on his P-bass Motown - Jamerson, Willie Weeks etc reggae - used by countless reggae artists, such as Robbie Shakespeare (albeit Jazz bass probably more favoured) I don't think P basses are confined to indie bands Mind you I am biased - I have 4 P-basses (a 51RI, a 70RI, a 72 and a 76 fretless)!!!! Both active, nice looking, Reggie Hamilton has the hipshot d-tuner which would be VERY nice to have... I dunno what I'm saying anymore, I'd buy them both in an instant but I'm saving for only one.... But after 30 years of wandering in the 5 string warwick/status/jazz desert I'm back to where it all started for me (after several recent attempts at finding one I liked) I'm always amazed at how for such a basic passive set up of 1 pick-up & volume, tone how they cut through with a band, probably where they sound best? Just ordered some GHS 3060's and can't wait. Let's face it the P bass looks soooo cool, slung low"ish" (not too low though....back can't take it at my age!), although I'd love a Les Paul bass for looks alone.
