I'm in a melodic death metal band (apparently) and unfortunately at this moment in time I can't tell you about our attire as it's going to be a secret until our first gig back at it. Lets just say it's in the manufacturing process now ;)

With The Blues Brothers Tribute it's Black Suit/White Shirt/White Socks/Black Tie and sunglasses.
The function band has logo'd shirts in 2 different colours worn wioth black pants.
The Jazz guys it's "whatever"

I tried playing in shades once because I thought it would look really cool. Couldn't see a ****ing thing and had to take them off after the first song. What a gip!

Having said that, I used to wear a rather fetching black suede waistcoat over my denim shirt & jeans for a Blues band, which I'm reliably informed definitely looked the part - especially with the black Strat and thick leather strap.....

Me, drummer, guitard: Black shirt, trousers, shoes. Girls: Red dresses.
Horns: Multi-coloured zoot suits with matching hats, trousers, waistcoats, ties, spats and shades... I know.
Apologies for low-quality pic.

I like this, very Kid Creole and the Coconuts! Do you do any of their songs by any chance?

[/quote]Yup they seem to be pretty well put together from fairly decent shirts in the first place all the stitching & seams are good on mine - only had them a month or so and subjected them to aq couple of gigs so far, but I luv'em.

They are speading like wildffire down here, in fact I suspect we may have a Sh1teoff at our next gig to celebrate a Sh1te band B)

With The Tuesday Club, the two singers generally wear military look clothing - Minki, the female singer looks very much like a Russian Bond-Type villain in her outfit. The rest of us wear smart clothing - suits etc, no blue jeans & trainers for this band.

With The Daves - well we used to do black shirt, stripy ties, skinny jeans & DMs, but I thought that look was being overdone, so now we all still wear the black jeans & DMs, but one will do the shirt/stripy tie, one will wear a Daves T-Shirt (to encourage sales)one will wear shirt/waistoat, one will wear a Fred Perry etc (all these variations are still black though). We all still look like "the band" but don`t look identical anymore (in clothing that is).

For me, I hate seeing bands where they just don`t look like a band - a live performance is visual, if you bother with lights and backdrops, wear something to add to the performance as well, look like a band with an identity.

Couldn't agree more!

I've been doing the glam thing until recently and now working on a pop/rock covers thing but there won't be any jeans, t-shirts, trainers or cropped trousers in evidence, that I can guarantee. :sun_bespectacled:

Both my bands have a certain onstage image. The Lemons go for a scruffy jazz look wheras the Skimmitys, being a scrumpy'n'western band have our take on the Wurzels look.

I used to be dead against dressing up fior the stage, but now I quite like putting on the band persona - sort of 'time to get down to business'. It also helps to have a band that looks like a band and stands out from the rest of the audience.
