1. ... the guitarist is a chap I know from the area, fantastic player and very nice chap to boot.
2. ... it is indeed in the picture, still it's a corvette though!
3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Bruce-of-Cream-this-was-his-Warwick-Thumb-Jazz-Man-Bass-Guitar-signed-/282216920578? .... anyone notice anything odd in the description?
4. Be careful about the ergonomics with the NT versions (I've had a NT4 and NT5). The first position is a few frets further away. The BO versions are a bit closer, but still take a while to get used to when swapping from say, a streamer. However that being said the tone is the best I've heard with everything set flat, really thick and organic!
5. I'd send it back and buy a better example off here tbh. If it's not as described, and by what you've said it sounds like not being so, I'd send it back without hesitation. Always open up a dispute with eBay, or if you paid by Pay Pal via them.
6. The brass inserts make so much sense, does he also have an option for using them on the body/neck union?
7. ... the earlier Warwicks without a neck Volute have replaceable truss rods that can slide out. Later ones with the Volute need the finger board taking off if owt goes wrong. Glad it's an easy fix.
8.
My understanding is we are getting a different set each night... I saw them at Bristol on the tues and the bouncer was saying the set was changed from mon. We didnt get Norwegian wood. The Monday crew saw Jackson 5 covers....
Guess it keeps it a bit more interesting for them then, Earth Wind and Fire were also a feature at some point during the evening in Leeds.
9. ... saw them in Leeds last night. Liked the bass playing by both Vic and Andy, the chordal guitar stuff by Reggie but the drummer probably made the gig for me lol!
10.
Good opportunity to point out once again that my £60 pawn shop MIJ Jazz copy is the nicest bass I've ever played: If I was ever in the position to spend silly money on a custom bass, most of it would be a replica of this thing! J.
Luvin it!
11. Bought a used Limelight jazz for £700, spent a bit on a few things for it and sold for £550. I thought I got a good deal when I bought it (well I did!). The market can be very strange sometimes can't it!
12. ... cheers man, they are starting to grow on me even more
13. .... so I've swapped the hardware on my Thumb and Stage 1, thought I'd see what the difference in colour made. I must admit I really like the contrast on the Thumb with it's gold hardware, wasn't too sure before. The black on the Stage 1 is growing on me, I originally initiated the swap to see if I liked black hardware with the Honey Violin finish anyhow so I think I'll probably keep it swapped. 14. .... I keep getting tempted back to 4 string jazzes, resist, resist
15. stacked pots from '60 to '61, top silver knobs are volume for each pickup, black bottom knobs are tone for each pickup. By '62 they changed to the VVT we all know and love!
I want one
+ 1
16. ... man, I can't believe the prices of these basses new. For less than the price of a new MIM Fender you can get a hand built bass that, by all press on here is a really decent instrument. I am seriously impressed and find it hard to see how other manufacturers can justify their pricing!!!
17. .... there's more than enough to work through on the SBLA to last a lifetime lol!!
18. ... do you like the beige carpet as well, that's from when I owned it a few years back. Genuinely one if the few basses I actually miss, traded it for a MIJ fretless 4 string Jazz (+£) as I wanted to go back to 4s. Now I've 3 5 strings, oh well. GLWTS.
19. ..... I'm diggin that brown, hope it goes quick.
20.
Only my point of view but at a guess anything new from Warwick is going to be mighty expensive. I'd be looking to replace it with something else, non MEC. Keep an eye on the "other" for sale forum here you often see used pre amps for sale.
+1, I forgot to mention that point lol!
21. .... I've played a BCers Warwick Streamer (Luke's) and he has a John East Preamp installed in it. Very versatile and comes with the knobs IIRC. I've 3 Warwicks and if the electronics went I'd go for the same as Luke's.
22.
Whats the string spacing on these?
.... 18-20 mm as the Stage 1 5 was always Broadnecked (until more recently that is, if you buy a new one now and don't spec it as a custom option it comes with non Broadnecked spacing IIRC!)
23. Forward by Djabe. Cracking playing from all concerened!
24. ... if it falls through can I have second dibs lol. Someone has just got a bargin of the century!
