Just bought a Streamer off Harry, price was good and he made sure I was happy with the deal all along. Good BCer, good comms and quick courier delivery, cheers

Gordon came down from Scotland to personally pick up my Limelight P bass. He also left with a Genz combo I had spare so a good deal all around. Great communication and a no hassle deal, recommended BCer, thanks

PM'd I think I'll be having this one as it'll go nicely alongside my fretless Thumb BO Broadneck !! Also as far as I know these weren't custom orders, just weren't asked for that much so not many made. If you put in the serial numbers of this LX and my Thumb (F10742604) into the Warwick serial number checker (http://www.warwickba...current_site_id) there is no mention of either of them being a custom version. Also the article numbers, when put into google do come up with references to both the basses being broadnecked versions. Anyhow nice bass either way

Yup, I agree and have the fretless love. I'm selling my fretted bass as my fretless didn't sell, I'm now glad as once you get your head around having a plain board it's very a expressive instrument to play on

Just had a look around the Letts site and they make some pretty impressive bit and bobs, especially like the clear pickups !

Hey guys, now on hold again, cheers for your comments and interest.
Did Mark say why he couldn't spray sunburst? I can and have.
Sorry Tom, no idea!
Does anyone know where he sources the necks? Necks make or break a P bass for me, I'd hope they are top quality because I would like a limelight.
Again, don't really know. I was told that he uses branded neck like All Parts etc but when I took this one off the heel was plain with no marks on. However regarding the quality I'd have no worries as it is also of a very good standard

Hi folks, I'm putting up for sale my Limelight '62 P Bass in Heavy Relic Olympic White over Sunburst, no 00125. I bought this bass off hear a few months ago and thought it was a keeper, however as my other bass didn't move I thought I'd have a go at selling this one. After I set it up it plays really well with a nice low action and no fretbuzz. I needed to use a shim to get the action to how it is now. After emailing Mark (owner of Limelight basses) he said he's pretty sure the body is Alder, although not 100% on it (as he can't spray sunburst he sources used bodies as a base and reworks them). The neck has a fairly chunky, yet comfortable profile and has rolled edges and is of a one piece maple design with clay does and side markers, the strings are Lakland flats. Due to the body being used I decided to use some matchsticks to repack the holes in it to ensure a tighter screw fit. Not shown but included is the thumb rest and screws. I did have to rewire the controls due to an issue with the earthing foil underneath the controls, now there is an earth wire between the jack and pots (and also an extra long earth wire from the bridge, to help when moving the pickguard about when you have it off). There is a slight gap between the pickguard and body below the jack/last pickguard screw area. Also in the control cavity the routing looks to have been slightly extend by hand at the end of the pocket (see pics below). Lastly the height adjustment screws on the saddles are frozen (due to the process used to age them). After speaking again to Mark about this he suggested that a blowtorch then a dunk it water would free them. I have not done this yet as the height was set up perfectly when I received it. I'd want £450 collected from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire for this please. This is less than what I have in it, but priced lower as it wasn't known that the body was a reworked one when I purchased it. This does really play well, but as stated above my other bass didn't sell so I'll stick to playing that one instead. Trade wise I would only consider a part x with cash your way for either a fretted Warwick LX broadneck 5 string or fretted Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string, both with volutes please. In the nicest possible way please don't offer anything else as I don't want you to be disappointed when it's declined . Please see the pics below; Any questions please just PM me. Really nice stuff there, thanks for posting. -
For what it's worth my Limelight '62 Heavy Relic P bass is fab to play and sounds ace. Welcome to the LL family lol!

If you are fairly motivated SBL Academy is great value, as mentioned above for the price of about 2 lessons you've got a years worth of input!!
thanks - great vid. Of course, I remember the Marcus version and played it on a 4 string from the Joe Hubbard book. It's just that I get frustrated with the narrower string spacer on the 5 string. Did you learn from any books or just persevered by converting your 4 string technique to the 6? Cheers
Try a Warwick Broadneck bass, 5 strings but with a normal 4 string spacing. A wider neck but very comfortable to play.

BBC Jazz Young Musician of the Year 2014
jimbobothy replied to jimbobothy's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Yeah, it's all amazing stuff. If you didn't catch the 'normal' BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014 that is also well worth a look. I particularly liked the percussion final, http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b041m7hm/bbc-young-musician-2014-2-percussion-final, you do now only have 4 days to watch it (and all the other episodes as well!). -
Hey folks, I don't play the upright but one of the finalist of the first BBC Jazz Young Musician of the Year award does, he's 2nd up and seems pretty good to me ! http://www.bbc.co.uk...14-8-jazz-award (only got 5 days left to watch though!) Enjoy!!

Regarding blocks and binding necks, I asked him a while back and he said he could do them as they order the necks in, however the costs would be pretty high as decent blocked and bound necks are £££!
