Get yourself to the doctors mate, people on here can only give educated guesses, you need professional advice. Hope it's nothing serious buddy.
Hi Ian, +1 for Wayne's advice. I have the same problem with the little finger on my right hand. The "trigger finger" article decribes it perfectly, but I would rather a doctor told me than some article on t'internet. Haw's it going BTW? We haven't had a chat for ages.
Hey guys I’m going to get a cover for my Tecamp cabinet, but this is a more general question about import duties etc. If I order from a German store, do I pay German tax? The store are saying that I do. Will the product get charged any duties on its way into the UK? The cover is already £90 with delivery….ouch! I don’t want to be paying anymore. My problem is also that if I’m spending £90, I’ll probably be annoyed if it gets badly scuffed and scraped. If it’s horrendously expensive to import, I might go with a Roqsolid cover for £40 plus free delivery. They seem to be waterproof and padded with a soft lining which seems quite good for the price. Plus, the cabinet will be looked after anyway. Has anyone had any experience with the Roqsolid covers?
You will probably have to pay German Tax but there is no Import Duty or VAT to pay at this end. I've got 3 Roqsolid covers and they are superb. Their guarentees are excellent and no Postage and Packing. Just be aware that the prices published are exclusive of VAT, but it is still around half the price. So you are keeping it then

I would recommend Roqsolid. Great prices and fantastic guarentee.
Is it just me that's relieved that everything useful has now gone. The temptation to grab a bargain that I don't need and can't afford was significant
Nope. Me too. I had convinced myself i needed a 2x12 Combo and thank god they had sold the last one when I phoned them
-
I always use Lithium Batteries and they last about 4 - 5 times longer than normal alkaline. That said, I also use leads with a "Silent Jack". No switch or anything to worry about just unplug. My current ones are from Award Session http://www.award-session.com/cleartone_cables.html But I am sure OBBM could make some up for you. They are brilliant, just unplug and that's it.
I lost sleep last night considering bagging some of this gear BUT common-sense kicked in and I left alone... despite phoning GG this morning to check that the 2x12 combo was definitely sold!
Me too. Last 2x12 was snagged on an Internet order last night.
get some battery clips off the bay (should be pence - you need 3). that way you can make a wee loom, so you don't need to permanently modify the instrument for 18v. then you can suck it and see! diagram here (scroll down a wee bit) http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/the-seven...le-18v-mod.html
Thats a damn fine idea. I like the fact it is reversable.
-
If you want to run the pre at 18v the batteries need to be wired in series not parallel. i would check with Alan or John East to see if any settings on the PCB need changing. On the question of changing batteries, i check my regularly with a meter and change when necessary, but as I use Lithium Batteries these days, that is very rare. Worth the extra wonga IMHO.

For Sale: 2 Compact Bass Cabs NOW SOLD
BassBunny replied to cLepto-bass's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
They appear to be heavily based on the Ashdown mini48 and mini15 and believe me when I say that they are good.
They ARE Ashdown Cabs. I had the ABM 15 version and here is the complete story. The company tham makes Ashdown Cabs, (and Trace Elliot, Cornford, Orange, HiWatt, Sound City etc.) ended up with a load of empty cabs when Ashdown changed the handle design. These are the older rectangular handles and when Ashdown changed to the new Oval design they had a load of cabs built that Ashdown didn't want. As part of the agreement with the above named companies, they do not produce anything of their own, so the cabs were covered and loaded with Celestion Speakers, (instead of the Jenson's Ashdown use), and grills were put on with a red piping to ensure they didn't look too much like Ashdown Cabs. They are birch ply construction and are the real deal. I got mine loaded with a Celestion Neo 15 and it was awesome. Good luck with the sale and whoever springs for these will be real pleased as they reckon the 4x8 is one of Ashdowns best designs. -

wedding fairs are they a good source of bookings
BassBunny replied to peety's topic in General Discussion
This is with the local newspaper group that covers Wigan, Preston area and are all held at decent venues, there is one this weekend so i may go along to just suss it out before we decide whether to book for the one at the end of October. cheers steve
Hi Steve, If the Newspaper is anything to do with the Messenger Group, let me know...... We got well stitched up by them. Booked for a Wedding Fayre at Lancs County Cricket Club and it is the biggest one of the year for them. We were told it would be a sell-out as far as stands go and would be packed. Man Utd then moved a home game to the same day and it was really poorly attended. We booked a 12' stand as we wanted to play during the event, but we ended up with as much room as needed. We covered our costs with a couple of bookings but in way of compensation we were promised the attendance details of that event and 3 others that the messenger held. We had to fight for them and only got 2, but fortunately my Wife used to work in Advertising and she got us 50% of the fee back. OK rant over, now a bit of info on what we did do. In no particular order. 1) A full publicity pack of who you are, sample set list, photo's, testimonials etc. These were properly presented in a folder with business card on the front. 2) DVD, particularly if you are not playing. Wedding Couples like to see what they are getting as well as hearing what you sound like. 3) A contact sheet where you can store all the info you need, Names, Addresses, Where the event is, Date of Wedding etc of anyone who makes an enquiry. 4) If you intend playing, have someone who can talk to anyone who may want answers to questions whilst you are playing. 5) Make sure you negotiate for the list of couples who attended and contact any that didn't speak to you on the day. 6) find out if there is any competition. We made sure we were the only band at the event although there was an agency, (who we also work for) and a solo singer. 7) Find time to talk to other exhibitors. You may be able to arrange for them to put your name forward, and vice versa, if they are providing a service for a particular wedding. There's probaly more and i will update if I think of anything important. -
Hi Pete, Believe me you are not out of order. The "widdling" all the time seems to be a common trait of guitarists. We suffered the same problem, that and not learning the numbers. We ditched him.... We had a process whereby we would agree what we were going to learn and all agreed we would have our parts sorted for next rehearsal. He never did his bit, but did learn some irrelevant solo from a Steve Vai number we weren't doing. At the end of the day I guess all you guys work during the day so rehersal time is valuable and you can't afford the time to what is basically covering up for the guy. Dave Marks gave a great bit of advice at a recent Bass Day. "You need to try and play with people you like and respect." I don't think this guy fits that profile. I know you have been looking for another band, but if the rest of the guys feel the same as you and you get on well with them, the answer is obvious.
