I guess if we all liked the look and sound of the same Basses, Amps and Cabs, there would only be 1 range of each. At least that would be an end to GAS as there wouldn't be the choice. Each to his own I guess. They started off as Guitar Cabs and have gone down a storm in the US, it remains to be seen if the look will work as well on the Bass Cabs.
I believe that Zoot cabs have gone through a recent transformation in terms of who actually makes them and how. I've heard that the original one's were less than reliable. Any owners like to comment?
Hi Peter, I haven't had any problems with mine and have added a 1x15 Compact as well which is awesome. Been using them for over 18months and have no desire to change them. My 112's didn't have Neo's installed, I specified Eminence Delta's which are 500W RMS rated. Just to clear matters up. There were a lot of problems getting hold of Mike and a lot of misinformation when he sold The Bass Merchant to Darren. He, by his own admission, was very lax with sorting the web-site and contact details out. All is now well and a new web-site is under construction. The cabs are still made by Mike but the transformation is a re-branding to "Purple Chili". This is to line the Cabs, (and possibly an amp range), with his guitar range. This is what they look like. Even nicer in the flesh. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/82740 The Zoot name will then apply only to the Basses. Hope that helps.
What are the dimensions on it - I'm on teh lookout for a board. What's it made of and what weight roughly ?
It's 28" x 6.5" x 1.5" The power supply takes up 3 ", so there is 25" of available Pedal Space. It's made out of pressed steel and weigh's just over 8Lbs.
I'd seriously get a few lessons. Most guitar players who switch to bass play bass like a guitar player, with incorrect technique and most of all, with the wrong mind-set.They tend to not think as a support/groove instrument and more as a root/riff chugger. Don't look at it as a simpler version of the guitar, treat it as a unique instrument with it's own idiosyncracies. You will get more out of it that way. I know it's a generalisation, but I've seen it many times.
+1. As a converted guitarist I waited about a year before taking some lessons. It is amazing the bad habits you take from guitar to Bass. The lessons made a massive difference. Try Funk Fusion Bass by Jon Liebman. Don't be put off by the title, it is a great book going through Technique, Scales, Arpegios ets.

I got this some time back from a guitarist I played with and have never used it. It has been "refurbished" i.e. repainted and has a strip of black carpet stuck down the middle ready for Velcro'd Pedals. Power supply has 5 cables installed ready. These are simple plug in jobbies so polarity reversal is easy. Have never used it but checked all the supply cables and they are all feeding 9V. I paid £20 for it and that it what I am looking to recoup.

Yolanda Charles covered this in a workshop at last years Bass Day. Her advice was to learn both parts seperately and then bring them together SLOWLY. She can play some astonishing bass lines whilst singing.

I had a similar "epiphany" moment Peter. I was talking to a pall of mine about his switch from 4 to 5 string. he reckoned it took him 18 months to be really comfortaqble Decided to give it a go and found out I actually took to it realatively quickly. I though it may be something to do with being an ex-guitarist, but more likely the fact we do shed loads of numbers in E flat and A flat and that is really 5 String territory. Is ther an order heading Alan's way?

Pete, I had a similar "seamless" transition to 5 String. I asked a long time friend of mine how long it took him to get used to his Stingray 5 when he changed from a P Bass. His answer was 18months and that put me off. I took the plunge however with a cheap 5 String Fretless from Bassjamm, (in for a penny), and found that 5 Strings were not a problem, (fretless was however). I thought it might have been something to do with being an ex-guitarist. With a band that plays so much in Eb, it is almost essential.

"Marvin". The Carvin BB75 I have that has had a Marleaux Neck installed. Every time I think I have found another Bass I prefer, I pick Marvin up and it just plays and sounds superb. A hard act to follow as a £2K Bacchus found out.
...unless you want to part with that baby for a good price!
The words "Not a Chance" come to mind . It is easily the most "playable" of all my Basses and does a really wide range of sounds. I have a G&L L2500 Tribute as well and that hasn't got a look in since i got the Sandberg................

SOLD Cort Artisan A5 5 string Bass, flame maple body
BassBunny replied to bassmanady's topic in Basses For Sale
It's a funny old world. If this had any other name on it's headstock then people would be fighting with each other for it at £400. The spec says yes!
Considering the Basses Cort make for other companies, G&L, Lakland, Yamaha, Ibanez etc., the pedigree is certainly there. They are the most underrated make on the market and worth every penny. If my Bacchus was sold, i would have it for a back-up at that price. Have a bump on me.
