Great stuff, ship back on an even keel. I,d be lost without my Rick, nothing like them. I,ve had damage to my shoulder/neck as well as wrist and fingers, nothing worked to relieve the pain. I got a copper bracelet. It took about 6 weeks to start kicking in but it works for me.Doctor couldn,t give an explanation but I was off prescription painkillers.Haven,t had any for 20 years now. Maybe it,s in your head about copper but they have been using them since the greek empire ,the romans found the copper in this country was highly prized for it,s qualities.

Gibson Thunderbird iv Vs Epiphone Thunderbird Pro iv??
bassmachine2112 replied to x_Morning_Star_x's topic in Bass Guitars
I,ve tried both and ended up with the epi pro 4 Pro 4 has mahogany wings not alder Bridge is a big improvement No worries over the head falling off Maybe some people don,t like the active basses As said wait till the passive one comes out I might be tempted to get one but it will be something else if I do but I,ll be keeping the pro 4 -
hiho, this is part of growing up as a musician. Every one has gone through this It,s a dilema. Get your recording done it doesn,t matter who plays what-a lot of bands do this .The Beatles were quite famous for doing this. Drummer can learn tracks after or get a replacement.the other thing is you can rejig who does what for the best sound. best of luck

Get a Rick,Musicman,Thunderbird and a P-bass they sound perfect with no digital hangovers and look lovely on stands in your living room. Only kidding, great idea but maybe to many whistles and not enough bells. I tried one but I,ve still got the real deals.

"Real bass players don't use picks"
bassmachine2112 replied to EdwardHimself's topic in General Discussion
I must be alone then-I use a plectrum. Commonly made of plastic type material but can be other stuff, kinda 3 sided triangley shaped is common . I find I can get loads of them in my pockets unlike a pick which is heavy and doesn,t fit in my pocket. -
Black one-no brainer.fingerprint city and looks cool as. I won,t enter into the drivel-went to the shops for a pair of hiking boots-size 8 and come home with a musicman sub and a roland bass amp

JJB was playing a very shiny new black jazz bass with maple neck on one of the clips. I wonder how things would have sounded with the equipment we have today .how would home recording and internet downloads have affected the overall scheme of things. It was a grim time when you see the backgrounds. In an odd way we were quiet happy. The standard of live performances nowadays musician wise is much higher when you hear some of the clips even compared to your local pub band but has the spark been put out ? I still play my Rick through a marshall with a little help from a preamp, sounds the danglers.

I got my first Rick for £270 brand new in midnight blue in 1979.,P was about £240. I think it was midnight blue as it was almost jetglo at a distance. Lovely colour.I,ve never seen one as dark as this since. I think the reason was that nobody realy wanted them at the time.It was all Aria,Ibanez which were great instruments and cheap for what they were when compared to the big american stuff. I remember the first Aria I saw and could not believe how good it was and the price was a revelation.Sqiers were another story. Still got my Squier and Aria, build quality is superb and they still do the business.

Hi,here,s a thought. Just get an Epi Pro-4-schaller type bridge, through neck, active electronics defo a cheaper way to do it. Sexy as hell in black. Or hang on a bit and get am Epi classic with american thunderbird pick ups, through neck as well in white.

Pity they never put the pro-4 bridge on it though. It seems to be a passive pro-4 using the bolt on wings and old bridge to cut costs.I don,t mean the wings are bolted on Wings are mahogany on the pro-4,wonder what they are on this new one. Waiting for a review back to back with a gibbo,a pro-4 and the new kid.Should be interesting.

I,ve got hartke bass attack, behringer bdi21 and line 6 floor pod. All good but for the price bdi21,preamp and DI all in one .Hartke is a good unit as well though as is the line 6 but bdi21 easist to use. Defo go for preamp with DI just for the comfort of if your amp goes down your still in the mix with your amp sound and they are great for recording as well. Another plus point is you can gig without an amp if you get enough back through monitors, feels strange at first not to have an amp flappin your leg but you get used to it especially at load out time.

Hi we need a drummer in the north west, Named guitarist needs a drummer to get out gigging . Tunes recorded. Contacts in place. This is not a pub band. The usual commitment, transport, good gear you know the score. What do we sound like-rock/punk/metal with melody. We will need demos of you playing and pictures or video. Contact with e-mail adress or pm and demos will be sent of what we are doing. Vocalist who plays guitar would be good as well,if not power trio it is. Age ,gender unimportant as long as you can play to decent standard. Here,s a demo

+1 on the sansamp or go cheapo and get the behringer one s/h it doubles as a DI box as well.It makes any amp /combo sound good and great for recording. You can get a lot of combo/amp/cab/cabs for your budget. Here,s an idea-behringer bdi21/bass floor pod, power amp and full range PA cab/s,DI into PA-sorted.I do this sometimes and sounds great. Combo,s are good-all in one box-wheels are a bonus Head and cab/s are good,i prefer 2 2x10 cabs cause they are lighter than a 4x10 and give you as much bottom end as a 15" Watch out for Ohms if you are running extra cabs-a 4 ohm amp/combo will not like 2 4ohm cabs as the amp section will see 2 ohm.this is a seperate issue which needs a seperate thread or you can search for this.Eeeh another can of worms. Back to subject-plenty of advice on here-just ask. Most brands have their followers, nobody is wrong . Go and see some bands playing in pubs and listen to their rigs and see what sounds good to you and have a talk with them, mosy of us are gear heads and love talking about gear.

Rickenbacker-more wood than a porn star. Keep the faith ,there,s nothing like them. My one was 13 last month , they work great with modern amps and effects but still sound like a Rick. You don,t play a Rick ,you become a Rick player. That sometimes gets lost on people. Keep the faith

I used these for a while and they were fabulous until the D string broke then the A. Excellent sound though.Only stopped using them due to the breakages, might have been unlucky. Mind you I did have a stadium elite 105 break on me straight out the box apart from that that,s all the broken strings I,ve had in not telling you how many years.

Tony Butler Signature Bass - Vintage V4MTB
bassmachine2112 replied to TransistorBassMan's topic in Bass Guitars
Thank you,hookys6stringbass. My hunch that they would machine the necks and neck pockets all the same to save time and money on set up time in the factory was correct. I played a gig last night and the guys in the band said They wished I,d played Bassmachine signature vintage cause it sounds so good.I played a musicman last night so there you go. Can I call it my own signature ? Anyway if you fancy doing a maple neck on the cheap or just fancy the look, get a vintage maple neck off the musicman copy and it just plops straight in. You do need to redrill pilot holes for the screws but a 3mm drill does the job and remember to mark your drill with a magic marker so you do not drill through the neck.Mark the drill the same length as the neck screws and jobs a good one. I,m not endorsed by vintage in any way but for the price they are good enough to gig with . Oh I forgot to say the neck has an extra fret but I caught the extra length with the saddles on the bridge I fitted apart from that. I quiet fancy a black scratchplate but thats just me. -
Tony Butler Signature Bass - Vintage V4MTB
bassmachine2112 replied to TransistorBassMan's topic in Bass Guitars
hiho Vintage v4. I have a heavily modified v4 I emailed vintage enquiring if they were ever going to do a maple neck and they said at the time they had no plans to do it. I made my own using a maple neck off a vintage musicman copy which fits straight in and the bonus of an extra fret. Wizard thumper pick up ,high mass bridge, schaller tuners, new pots and jack. Total build including the bass-£132= bargain. Sounds amazing, plays a dream. Great bass to gig ,stays in tune.Great range of tones using the volume and tone. As standard it wasn,t shabby by any means and I did gig it but the modder in me got the better of me.I would have done these mods to a F apart from the neck if it was maple to start with. For the price a cracking bass worth checking out. -
What about legacy from strings direct, aren,t they supposed to be made in the rotosound factory ?
