1. Resale value isn't the slightest consideration, my 18th birthday present will not be sold!
2. Hi all I am a great fan of satinizing (if that's a word) necks with Scotchbrite fine scourer but have only done it on poly finished ones, not nitrocellulose. It's a '74 SG, and I have no desire make a pigs ear of it. Anyone done this with success? Comments gratefully received. Cheers MBA
3. Search ebay for 2sa1837 for uk seller. Cheap as chips!
4. Right up there? !
5. Speculum, as a band name, says it all really!
6.
I played fretless exclusively for about 7 years but as the taste for it dropped do did my need for it and I haven't owned one for some time. However the band I play in just got a new guitarist who just happens to own a Wal mk1 lined fretless and he brought it along for me to play a few days ago.
That's one cool guitarist you got there!
7. I saw a young pop-metal type band using new Trace gear in a large rugby social club function room. It sounded really good and so loud I had to go outside. The PA was vocals only... I don't know what their most powerful head is but that MUST have been it!
8. Bright blue leds are quite bad for your eyes. \sorry for the buzzkill but green, yellow, reds etc are kinder on yer glasballs
9. I think most folks just man up
10. The sound, especially in the first half was very poor, boomy and quite chaotic sounding. As above, the bass had little definition. As it went on,the sound got a bit better, and the quieter passages were really nice. I would have loved it to be in a smaller venue where they weren't trying to do a big rock show, as this is groovy, subtle music, and in this particular venue, these things were lost a fair bit of the time. The highlights were still good, but on the whole, I was left a bit disappointed. For loud music, Cheltenham Town Hall really needs some acoustic treatment, imho.
11. I'd kind of expect to apply a bit of elbow grease to something I'd picked up SO cheap. Sounds like a good score for a bass with nothing ACTUALLY wrong with it at all!
12. I'd be interested to hear what others thought of the sound at Cheltenham last night.
13. I'd check the underside of the circuit board and see if any of the solder joints to the larger components has fractured. These will be the parts most likely to vibrate and break a join,or even a track. A rapid disconnect/reconnect at the output can cause the fuse to blow due to the inductive effect of the speakers. Often, a quick dab with a soldering iron is all that's needed.
14.
I properly hate fenders, so I'll be fine in that respect, credit card is being left behind and girlfriend is coming with me to keep me sensible lol
she might want to take a book!
15. So, who's at Cheltenham for Snarky tomorrow? It's my birthday today, got "tell your friends" cd (it's great!) and staying at Montpellier Chapter (sw@nky!) tonight and tomorrow, Dinner at the Petit Blanc tonight, all courtesy of Mrs. MBA. What a nice birthday weekend lineup!
16.
.. It does surprise me that there seem to be so few gig worthy transistor amps about, something with a decent distortion on it. The most promising I have found is this http://www.award-ses.../bluesbaby.html
Have you actually tried one of these yet?
17. but it's soo cute!
18.
Big rack and a couple of 8X10s
Yeah, who doesn't like a big rack?
19. I'd like to have seen a view from the other side, but larger/ better heatsinking and ducting on the output transistors would probably do it.
20. I did a quick search in this and the reviews forum and not found any reviews for them yet, unless I'm being a dim search monkey - always possible... So, anyone?
21.
I don't have the cash to buy in the first place though sadly.
Ah, sorry to hear that, I didn't think of that!
