1. Hi all. I'm looking to solicit opinion from Ditto users as to whether it is something you have kept on using, or an interesting novelty that gets put aside once the, err, novelty, has worn off. I know people would all have different uses for it, just trying to get a cross section of opinion. Cheers Jules
2. You can use a credit card as a fret rocker on that D string 13 fret and see if it is high relative to the frets either side. You could also use it to pay a luthier to look at it for you...
3. Neat work, nice. One thing though - aren't the power and output transformers usually oriented at right angles to each other?
4. I'm just curious what you think this bass will give you that a standard Fender P bass won't. I'm sure it will be nice though...
5. 4.5k is quite weedy for a single coil. Any cheap Strat pickup from your parts bin would probably do better than that.
6. I think some or all of the 8 Miles High solo is reversed anyway, so trying to "play" it right is a fruitless task. I love it for its chaotic sound and feel and have done the same on some of my recordings, with results I really like. I think the Hi Ho solo is probably the laziest effort I can recall on a single, from a supposed guitar legend, worra load of crap.
7. I don't think they would plane the board off, probably apply heat and separate the glue sticking the board on.
8. I only know his playing from Survivors Suite by Keith Jarret, very nice and pretty understated. Cool player. RIP
9. Wembley Loudspeakers can do pretty much anything with speakers. Might be more economic to consider a different speaker, there might not be much in it, cost-wise! But if you gots to have the Burman....
10.
Yes!
Glad it's not just me then!
11. Clem's great, but he reminds me of the drummer at the wrong gig bloke....
12. Royal Blood were good too, nice to see someone can sing in tune without in-ear-monitors. BBC were better than I was expecting too.
13. Plant was Pretty good, and I really didn't think Blondie were too bad at all. One or two tunes were a bit off (but who isn't at Glasto?) but there was one song that I thought was actually a better interpretation than the original. I don't know what some of you were expecting, I watched it on catch-up expecting some kind of car crash, but it totally wasn't. Loved Stein's XOX guitar too.
14. I had to do the same thing with a Sperzel tuner, used the pin as a marker. Worked out ok, but as it was the 1 on a 3+1 head it didn't have any other keys to line up with. Don't forget to put a depth stop on the drill if you do do it though!
15. I've only heard good things about the Vintage Lemon drop Les Paul - one ending on ebay in a couple of days: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-V100RPGM-Lemon-Drop-Distressed-Electric-Guitar-/291170434680?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item43cb1c3e78
16. I think one of these is used on the advert that features people playing Gigantic by Pixies. The pickups look the same.
17. U-retro has blend in passive mode
18. I'm having similar thoughts, and also have a Midget and Compact. I've never used them together yet though. The Midget has covered the last couple of gigs on it's own, and we played a fair bit louder than usual!
19. Hi Balcro Thanks for checking that for me. I assume you got the power handling vs freq and xmax figures from a different simulator to WinISD? - I couldn't see where it would provide that info. My next checks will be about the port. I will go for a full width slot. I don't have the sizes to hand, so from memory it was about 268mm by 30mm giving a shelf length of about 90mm and mach 0.10. I did read somewhere that there should be at least 3" (76mm) gap between the end of the port and the rear panel, so with a box depth of 168mm it should be just about ok
20.
As Bill and Phill have said, porting is the answer. Picture 1 is the Celestion in a closed box. Picture 2 is the result when fitted in a small slot ported box. Balcro.
What was the volume of the cab for that model? When I ran it in win|SD, the figure came out at 13 litres with a -3dB point at about 90Hz. I'm not looking for massive bass, so that seems ok, but I was a bit surprised at how small the volume came out. Not complaining though (unless I've entered one of the T-S parameters wrong!)
21. All moot as it is sold now according to the website.
22. That's a really nice looking bass, but I think the headstock looks a bit out of proportion, maybe a Telecaster shape or 2-a-side (like, er, Westone) would look better aesthetically. IMO, of course!
23. Ok, that's pretty routine stuff. If you're lucky a basschatter local to you might chip in and offer to do it (or even better, show you how to do it) for a couple of pints
24. The Godin Gig bags are really good too! GLWTS
25. For a few years, I used a Roland Bass Cube60 (the old orangey coloured ones) with my Sessionette75 on top on clean, with the bass rolled off a bit, fed from the Cube's line-out. The whole thing didn't have massive bass obv, but a fantastic snap for punk-funk (think RHCP before they were around). The top end made it cut through enough to gig. Never damaged the guitar amp, still using it!
