1. Thanks for the review, I might take the plunge for that money!
2. Update - I'd forgotten about this thread! I put Graphtech saddles on for him just before Christmas, also coinciding with us not playing much. He broke a string last week - this first one since the change, so the jury is out on this so far. He is trying to play softer and turn the amp up more, we will see. Years of acoustic scrubbing will be hard to erase from his technique, I suspect.
3. No I haven't, as I don't really need an active set, but it didn't stop me wanting them though. I wouldn't mind changing my monitors though as they are a bit bass heavy, and my mixes can sound bass light as a consequence. What are you comparing them against? If they really are that good, they must be something of a bargain.
4. http://www.red5audio.com/acatalog/Active_Monitor_Speakers.html They are doing a special for existing customers for £160 if you write a review... their other stuff is good value
5. I think the lyrics are kind of about a vegetarian's guilt about eating fish (icthyophagus). Or something!
6. Good creative stuff. Plenty to keep my interest. Preferred the drum sound on the second track, sounded less compressed.
7. Thanks for the kind words, I hope reminding you of your drunken youth is a good thing!
8. No takers for a critique? Do I take it the old adage "if you can't say anything nice, say nothing" is being applied?
9. Scotchbrite is the ideal stuff for knocking the gloss finish back to satin. I read that Alembic use 2000 grit wet and dry....
10. Very much so Pete! Sorry we didn't hang about to chat, but the Mrs wanted to get on. I can't recommend the band enough to anyone who hasn't seen you and is an SD fan. A great night out!
11. Wow,my SG special is on p30! Never seen any literature relating to this model before! Mini humbuckers _ mmm
12. Yes, if the nut is cut so the strings don't make final contact at the very edge on the fingerboard side, with intonation set correctly at the 12th fret, the fiirst few frets will sound noticably sharp, gradually getting less so up the neck.
13. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrea-Fulerton-Nail-Boutique-Glosser/dp/B005DKAVT2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1391262941&sr=8-2&keywords=andrea+fullerton+buffer I use these, they give a really good finish. Great on frets too! You can do it without taking the strings off.
14. sounds like someone has already put a shim in the neck, just at the wrong end of the pocket!. I had exactly this on a cheap telecaster I bought off ebay recently. Some people, eh?
15. Got my tickets! Any other Basschat bods going along?
16.
However the Rockbass version is only 32" scale while the Warwick ones are the full 34".
Not necessarily a bad thing if you're after a smooth, thumpy tone...
17. No worries, I had flu last week and found myself exploring some bits of basschat I don't often get to! I put a tune up by Charms Against the Evil Eye that no one has commented on yet.... As you said, it good to get a different set of ears on it, by the time you've mixed a tune, you've heard it so many times that it's hard to be objective about it any more!
18. Not bad, nice sounding vocals. I thought the bass sounded a little thin tone wise, liked the bass tone in the second tune better. Something about the drum fills didn't flow right at times too, but pretty good on the whole.
19. Only listened to the first track, sounds pretty good! Maybe the vocals could be a bit higher in the mix, but I always find that hard to judge on my own stuff.
20. I was off Ill recently and set my fretless up as low as it would go, no buzzing, great! I used it at a practice and the tone was just not there, seems I play harder than I thought in the band, and the notes were choking at band intensity.
21. Ooh, I'll try to get along as you don't seem to play in this neck of the woods that often. Anyone else? Jules
22. Another favourite is putting a lead into the effects send and return sockets as oxidised contacts can also mute the output.
23. Is there a speaker output fuse somewhere (possibly internal)?
24. If you could outline the issue, someone (!) might decide that it may be worth taking a look at.
