1. Result! So much for all the naysayers!
2. You could always offer the use of your rig as backline for all to use. That would sound better than a little Trace combo. I don't suppose the venue would mind.
3. There was a thread in the bass amps for sale that had a PJB combo sprayed cream with a dye specially made for vinyl and fabrics. Got to be easier than trying to re-cover the thing. I'm thinking of doing it with my Sessionette, in burgundy, or similar.
4. I bought a Bronco on behalf of someone and could barely put it down while it was with me. It was great for about £72 s/h in immaculate condition. I really enjoyed it.
5. Yes, looking good for may in chelt. My birthday!
6. That's a thoroughly decent thing to do, I commend you.
7. Spot on answer Daddy-O. When my friend changed to black tapewound strings on his old Verithin, the bridge had to be moved to a ridiculous looking angle to get it intonated. It looked wrong to be right!
8. Hi all I'm heading to Brugge for a few days, arriving Saturday afternoon. Can anyone recommend places to go to see live music please? Nothing too rowdy, I'll listen to most things, Mrs MBA is paticularly fond of latin, and some jazz. Hope it's not too tall an order! Cheers MBA (Jules)
9. You could put a preset pot inside the control cavity to reduce the offending pickup and balance the two then forget about it and use the controls as normal happily ever after.
10. Looks the business, any more details on it?
11. It makes you think about the ritualistic element of "healers" of various ilks. Is it all about releasing the inner healing abilities of the body? The more ritual, the more buy-in. Probably includes church and prayer too...
12. The bassist a at jazz jam i used to attend fits his db in a Citroen C1, back seat folded, head over the passenger seat. I was surprised to say the least, but it went in easily.
13. Could someone please post the url? Can't view embedded clips on my blasted kindle. Cheers
14. Could it be a rattling truss rod? I had this on a bass with a very stiff neck (carbon fibre reinforced) that didn't need much tension in the rod. You can try rapping gently on the neck with your knuckle with the strings damped and see if it clicks. If this is the case, you may consider going up a gauge of strings and putting a bit more tension in the rod. Good luck. Jules
15.
I have 4 and 3 are in gig bags and 1 is in a hard case. All stood up in the cupboard under the stars.
You'd be better off keeping them indoors!
16. Thanks for the review, I might take the plunge for that money!
17. Update - I'd forgotten about this thread! I put Graphtech saddles on for him just before Christmas, also coinciding with us not playing much. He broke a string last week - this first one since the change, so the jury is out on this so far. He is trying to play softer and turn the amp up more, we will see. Years of acoustic scrubbing will be hard to erase from his technique, I suspect.
18. No I haven't, as I don't really need an active set, but it didn't stop me wanting them though. I wouldn't mind changing my monitors though as they are a bit bass heavy, and my mixes can sound bass light as a consequence. What are you comparing them against? If they really are that good, they must be something of a bargain.
19. http://www.red5audio.com/acatalog/Active_Monitor_Speakers.html They are doing a special for existing customers for £160 if you write a review... their other stuff is good value
20. I think the lyrics are kind of about a vegetarian's guilt about eating fish (icthyophagus). Or something!
21. Good creative stuff. Plenty to keep my interest. Preferred the drum sound on the second track, sounded less compressed.
22. Thanks for the kind words, I hope reminding you of your drunken youth is a good thing!
23. No takers for a critique? Do I take it the old adage "if you can't say anything nice, say nothing" is being applied?
24. Scotchbrite is the ideal stuff for knocking the gloss finish back to satin. I read that Alembic use 2000 grit wet and dry....
