1. Bob, you forgot the 2 U.S. Masters EP42 that you sold me! I got a lined fretless neck for the Lacewood one, which is my main gigging bass. The blue one now has the Pao Ferro/birdseye off the lacewood one.
2.
I think you'll find it's Les bollocks, in proper French like.
Les bollaux
3. Beware of "bargain" hifi speakers from the '80s and 90s with foam cone edge surrounds. They often look intact but will tear when cranked. I recently got some old JBL Control 1 pros with this issue. I did re foam them, but it was another £20 odd and a couple of hours work. Acoustic Research (AR) speakers are the same, I've refoamed 2 pairs now, with good results though. AR18s' are a nice sounding speaker for the money, above issue notwithstanding.
4. Found Electroharmonix Attack Decay too. Very rare apparently. My search turned up more when i used ADSR as a key word.... Pigtronix do an interesting ADSR compressor sustainer thingie too. some cool sounds to be had. Bet it's loads though.
5. Years ago, I tried to make a pedal from some mag which just affected the envelope of the signal, NOT a filter. Didn't work and I've since lost it (probably binned it in a fit of pique!) I've done a cursory search and got zip. Is there such a thing commercially available? Looking for a sort of bowed cello sound, but without the faff of pumping away on a volume pedal... Any help, youTuBe links etc. gratefully received Cheers Jules
6. Is the extra knob on the black one a "woofer" control?
7. Defunkt's "Thermonuclear Sweat" is unsurprisingly funky. Tasteful playing from Kim Clarke. Some horrible guitar playing on it though...
8. Played at the Wheatsheaf in Oxford last Friday with The Mark Bosley Band. It was a bit of an odd one. He (Mark) decided that we hadn't quite enough material (new drummer) for the hour so did 2 songs solo to start, then sent me and the drummer to the stands halfway through to do another couple of solo tunes. We still had 3 songs to do when the compare told us "one more tune!" Weren't best pleased. He got 2 friends up to sing Tomorrow Never Knows, and whilst being good singers on their own, well, lets say the song might not have been in their key... I gave him the news on the saturday morning. I just wasn't enjoying it enough and was having no input, the polar opposite of my main band.
9. [sup]I'd be tempted to get the one that's the least similar to the Groove sound-wise. The different sound may lead to different inspiration, and give you a different palette to play with.[/sup]
10. Just bought a Line6 Lowdown Studio 110 form David. It arrived promptly and superbly packed, and was in perfect condition, exactly as described. Very easy transaction and I would recommend him without hesitation. Thanks Jules
11. Are these things particularly heavy? The metal does give the impression. Just curious, like!
12. I bought a nice Eggle Berlin recently and have run out of stand and hangar space! I don't suppose you've free'd up a 4-way rack yet?....
13. Bob, you've been "cutting down" your collection for years, and you've still got just as many! (I've tried to help, I've had 3 off Bob!). Admit it, you're only making space for some more....
14. This was a new one on me, I thought it was a typo when I first saw it: Fender Marauder. Gibson surely? NO! http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=fender+marauder&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=403&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=9722696675855997418&sa=X&ei=9r9LUPm9H8am0QWF74HwDQ&ved=0CEUQ8wIwAQ looks pretty cool though. If you can find a s/h one (there's a guy wanting to trade one on Oxford's Nightshift pages) +1 to the Godin Solidac that someone on here was selling for £300 Mine was about £770 new and I don't think I'd let mine go for that. Covers a lot of bases and a bit off piste too
15. Another from Mr Holdsworth. This is concise, and the phrasing is just great. Starts around 2.47 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMu7XUc9OcI
16. is the first harmonic of that note exactly where the pickup is situated? If the setup is such that it is prompting that harmonic at that point, the pickup would be at a node in the string's vibration, and appear very quiet.
17. Finally bought Mike's Eggle Berlin Pro (guitar!). A perfect gent to do business with. Cheers. Jules
18.
Yes, he does. It's too much of a classic solo not to.
totally agree! A friend's band does Another Brick in the Wall and doesn't play "the" solo. Ruins it imho!
19. Still trying to nail the guitar solo on this. It's a thing of beauty when Larry Carlton plays it, just a thing when I try! Does NDs guitarist play it verbatim from the record?
20.
My OH uses a glass one, our guitarist in the band uses a brass one. To be honest, I think the glass one gives a softer tone, the brass one sounds brassier and harsher in my mind. depends on the sound you are going for.
Gone

Very good price! If you've never played a shortie like this it's quite a revelation! They sound good and feel just right, they're just so easy to play.
