1. How loud do these go in clean mode? I only had a quick tinker on the mini stack version and only really tried out the dirty sounds (which were nice!)
2. I've always fancied one of these. Whatever happened to all the gubbins? What kind of a bridge could you find to go on one of these?
3. Can you now un-knee your bandmate though?
4. Oh well. Got a red Bronco off eBay for £72 plus shipping. I'll let you know what I think of it when it turns up.
5.
yeah, neither of my stl 10s have them. i have to stop myself breaking the thing and open and disconnecting the tweeter myself
why not just turn the treble on the amp down a tad?
6. Hmm, the weight may be an issue. She's a little thing, and in her 60s!
7.
Just watching it now and thought the same thing. At last, a tasteful slapper. Nice bass too.
Funny, I thought he overplayed the line just a fraction. Good playing nonetheless
8. When you say chunky, do you mean more so than a 70s 'Master? I like em like that, but the girl I'm looking on behalf of really isn't that fussy afaik.
9. try rapping (with your knuckle!) on the back of the neck with the strings muted. If the truss rod is at all loose you should hear it. This can cause all manner of different unwanted adible artifacts.
10. Thanks Leon, good info. Spotted the one on the Bay, I will be going for it. Re the tapewounds - you might find they intonate in a very different position to the rounds. I did an old Hofner up for a mate and couldn't believe how much further back the bridge had to go, especially on the bass side. This might work in your favour in this instance.
11. Hi All I'm looking to source a backup bass for a friend who uses a Musicmaster. Needs to be short scale and simple! Do the Affinities make a decent sound, and would you use one as a backup/gigging bass? I've never had my hands on one, so would probably be buying blind off t'Bay or even here... Any issues and thoughts welcome. Cheers. Jules
12. Never had any problems on IE. Before today! Strange.
13. I've got one of these - I wish I'd been able to get it for this price. This is a GOOD deal! If it comes with the Godin gigbag too they're great!
14.

Score a Guild B301 with SLF. And I'm not getting this offering from the Au Pairs as punk
15. Saw a Shergold earlier. I also understand now why I had to get a Les Paul Special double-cut. Everyone had one then! Subliminal at the time, but when you see them all together at once.....
16.
What was funny? The name or the fact that there's a website for bass players?
That was partly my point - I think he found it funny that someone mundane enough to play the bass could possibly want or need a dedicated website. We really are held in that kind of low regard by some!
17. I was talking to a Photographer at our gig last night and happened to mention that there was a website for bass players called BassChat, and he thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard! He might have been thinking along the lines of Priest Chat off Father Ted, which WAS funny. Even our drummer chipped in, saying it should be called Bass Spod! Is this the regard in which we (collectively) are held? On the upside, he did send me an arty pic of me playing.
18.
D'Addario Chromes - sound like round wound, feel line flatwound. I use them on fretted and fretless basses and personally wouldn't use anything else. Just my preference, of course.
In my experience, Chromes sound nothing like round wound strings. They do feel nice though.
19. We used to use AA Platers in Watford. Don't know if they're still there. I think they were west Watford/Greycaine est. area.
20. Have a look at this site: http://shop.41hz.com/shop/ They do some tiny class d amps some of which run happily off 12 V. Been thinking about this myself for a while. Still need a preamp though. What about the ElectroHarmonix class d jobbies, 22 calibre of 44 magnum? All quite efficient so should have a good battery life if you can get enough volts going in.
21. That's an awesome piece of wood on that Thumb - type bump
22. Thanks Bill, I'd read this before, but forgotten it almost straight away!
23. I'm just curious. I have a Shuttle 6, so should be plenty of power available, and neither of my (3-piece) bands is particularly noisy. If I could get away with something as small as a Midget, I would, even though the Compact isn't exactly huge. Your thoughts, as always, welcomed. Cheers Jules
