1. Considering the slant of this thread it may be GILF....
2. Great rehearsal = bad gig.
3. I can't remember, but here's some for you anyhow. Just sold a Genz Shuttle footswitch to Gordon, A pleasure to deal with and super prompt payment too! Cheers Jules
4. I don't think having a toggle will make any difference to the cancellation thing.
5. Don't wear boxers Adolph.
6.
Pink jazzes look fantastic, especially with brown tortie 'plates. I'm 6ft 1 and ugly as sin but would be delighted to gig at the legendary Dog and Duck every Saturday night with this (my old Yamaha quells any trouble it really would hammer nails in ). Bump for a truly wonderful instrument.
Would that make it a Yamahamma?
7. Ha! post up some clips on here and get a thousand honest opinions!
8.
Maybe I just have lazy technique but I hate not been able to use open strings, if you can't use open strings you're physically limited I find. Take the F# example, just half a step down and all the open strings are available to you.
S'funny, I don't really like playing open strings. It makes muting a special case, slightly different to how you do it on non-open strings.
9.
Surely you will also need a preamp of some sort to EQ the rig?
What's to EQ if it only goes up to 150Hz?
10. Thanks Skanky, that may well help if I can be bothered to plough through it too. I wish I'd taken some photos and copped the date codes off the pots while it was in bits.... Hindsight 20-20 etc.
11.
You might want to meet my annoying neighbour, who points to our baby grand and always comments bang on cue...... 'What about banging out something on THE big Organ of yours' He laughs his stupid ugly head off, and his lovely charming wife dies of embarrassment. Garry
Maybe if you did bash one out on your BIG ORGAN he wouldn't ask again...
12. Hi all I just fixed up an old (mid 70s?) Marshall Bass 30 amp for a friend, 2x12 speakers arranged vertically. They are 25 W Celestion Greenbacks with 75 c/s resonance freq. Does anyone know when they changed over to putting Hz on the labels? Might help date the speakers, as I suspect they're worth a lot more parted out (to guitarists!) than the amp is all together, as it is a bit big for a practice amp and a bit quiet to be useful! Any insight gratefully received, I haven't even been able to find a picture on t'internet, hey it might even be really rare! (still doesn't make it any good though!) Cheers Jules
13.
laughable tosh...!!!
Come on then, it was a reasonable question, substantiate your earlier statement. There's no clue in your sig....
14. If there's too much treble in a tweeter loaded cab, why don't folks just turn down the treble on the amp a bit? Seriously?
15. Have you tried the Genz with different cab? It shouldn't sound too quiet. Also, what is the impedence of the cabinet? Has it ever been rewired?, I'm thinking one pair of speakers may be out of phase with the other.
16. I've been almost obsessed with this since I caught the tail end of the Monkees documentary the other week: Pleasant Valley Sunday. Goffin/King. Great songwriting, guitar riff and harmonies. Whats not to like? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RPQEap-8Vk&feature=fvst
17. Genz-Benz Shuttle 3 doesn't have a fan, all the other Shuttles do.
18. yes, sorry! I find the bag invaluable, though I'm sure you could find a netbook or camera bag that would do the same job for a lot less.
19. This is now sold (to me!) I haven't tried the footswitch yet, but as I never needed one with the shuttle 3.0, I doubt I will need it with this, so it may be up for grabs if anyone is interested. I can't believe they cost £90 new! It hasn't been used afaik. By the way, Pedro is a thoroughly nice chap to deal with too. Cheers Jules
20. [sup]2 hours 26. Doddy wins a goldfish![/sup] [sup]Thanks bud![/sup] [sup]It's a bass that looks better played than on it's own. Quirky.[/sup]
21. Spotted on the vid for Pleasant Valley Sunday. I like it!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RPQEap-8Vk&feature=fvst The body has a touch of Ovation, but it's much too early for that. The head is a bit Thunderbird. Is it a Guild? "I gots to know!" clocks runnin' ! Cheers
22. I wouldn't get too caught up with the scale length either, I also have small hands, I hardly even notice the difference, in fact, I tend to play the normal things I would on a 4 in the 5th position, so the spacing is effectively smaller than a 4. Works for me. By the way, I got a Spector Legend 5 s/h and have to reiterate, these sound immense, for any money.
23. I had a Marathon 6-string fretless that had no checking in the (very thick) finish, so it does happen!
24. The body shape reminds me of an SD Curlee, but I don't think they were through-neck...
