1.
Lord, yes. I'd sell my first-born for an ACG preamp with recallable presets.
This should be well possible. Why not suggest it to Mr. East? I doubt it is even as hard as you might think. A few digital pots and a tiny micro or fpga would do it.
2.
If you bust out the holesaw and go nuts on one piece, will that give you a stiff honecomb effect?
I did wonder about doing that on the previous iterations 12mm mdf+chipboard box but never got round to it. It was fairly light (~14lb iirc) but this has the potential to be a fair bit lighter. Doubling up might make putting a thin walled box together easier too. Hmm...
3. I'm blessed with an excess of 9mm ply from some recent building work. I'm thinking of re-housing a 10" Celestion neo. in it. Any thoughts? Wouldn't mind a tweeter to go with it too. Any suggestions. Cheers Jules
4. Sounds fun! Good luck with that Ian.
5.
Do like the looks of those drop head combos though...
do you think they're "drop-head gorgeous"?
6. He was on that long before BSSM. Maybe they're getting old?
7. Does it have a phenolic fingerboard? I have an acquainance with a Cort Curbow fretless that is incredibly sensitive to humidity changes. He puts it down to the synthetic board (and he is a luthier!)
8. Yes, interested. I found with Tru-Oil that it doesnt build thickness very well (for well, read quickly) I was using it to fill in some splintered areas after a defret (rosewood) You can eventually get a nice satin smooth board though
9. I'd look closely at how the nut is cut. If the string(s) are resting at the back of the nut not the fret side, you will be able to intonate at the octave correctly but the frets below will seem sharp, especially in the lower positions.
10.
No. I'd never heard of LC or Primus until I joined BC.
Didn't you ever wonder who played the feem chooon to Southpark??
11. Yeah, dont force the low sting in the nut as it might split the side of the nut off. Get the nut width right before you tension up.
12. It's looking a little like a Westone Thunder now. Trans cherry like a Guild or Gibbo would look smart over that mahogany.
13. yes, the Princess Isabella looks like a lovely big mint imperial - I just want to lick it! The tailpiece is neat too. The photography is brilliant, but I'd be interested to know in what way they don't live up to the photos in the "flesh", if EBS would care to elaborate....
14. Take the small amp. For acoustic stuff, it's all you'll need. You'd look more of a d+ck toting a big amp to an all acoustic do.
15.
Toilet seats! how dare you! hehe it has no hole, how can it be a bog seat! bog seat or not its a stingray on steriods! ;-)
Black Bongo with white plate gives that lovely "porcelain" effect!
16. Without a B string, isn't it just an "Ongo"? I'll get my coat...
17.
Can you explain this a little further/point me to a thread that does - I think I know what you're going to say but not secure enough to say it. I've heard of 10's and 15's being a big 'no no' due to the risk of being out phase but then seeing so many people use the setup (and some being using the setup as me) it led me to believe it is folklore - however my electronics and music tech qualifications (although they feel pretty useless at the moment) tell me that there must be some truth in it thanks to good old subject physics!
It's not about the mixing of the speakers at all, it's just that if the 15"speaker is wired the opposite way to the combo the two cabs will tend to cancel each other out, in other words if the 10" cones are going forward, the 15 will be going backwards. If the socket on the cab, or the speaker or cable are wired wrong, this could happen.
18. I got that lovely leather Warwick gig bag from my dear wife. I'm a lucky lad!
19. This is a lovely looking bass, quite remeniscent of a Sei Original, though I guess these pre-date Sei by a few years. Mmmm!
20. And the colours on Al DiMeola's 'rainbow' guitar are in the wrong order. Schoolboy error!
21. I would have thought a wipe over with Tru-Oil would suffice. I doubt it would eat the decal, and would blend fine with the rest of the head. **Caveat** I might be wrong!!
