I think most folks just man up

The sound, especially in the first half was very poor, boomy and quite chaotic sounding. As above, the bass had little definition. As it went on,the sound got a bit better, and the quieter passages were really nice. I would have loved it to be in a smaller venue where they weren't trying to do a big rock show, as this is groovy, subtle music, and in this particular venue, these things were lost a fair bit of the time. The highlights were still good, but on the whole, I was left a bit disappointed. For loud music, Cheltenham Town Hall really needs some acoustic treatment, imho.

I'd kind of expect to apply a bit of elbow grease to something I'd picked up SO cheap. Sounds like a good score for a bass with nothing ACTUALLY wrong with it at all!

I'd be interested to hear what others thought of the sound at Cheltenham last night.

I'd check the underside of the circuit board and see if any of the solder joints to the larger components has fractured. These will be the parts most likely to vibrate and break a join,or even a track. A rapid disconnect/reconnect at the output can cause the fuse to blow due to the inductive effect of the speakers. Often, a quick dab with a soldering iron is all that's needed.

I'd like to have seen a view from the other side, but larger/ better heatsinking and ducting on the output transistors would probably do it.

I'm not keen on the single pickup in the middle, but it does sound very solid. Sperzel tuners are good, make sure all the locking thumbwheels are present! (though they are still good tuners without the locking bit) oh and def 34" scale!

How soon do programmes become available on i-player?

They still do the money back trial period thing, so you'd only be out the cost of postage if it didn't work out for you....

That lipstick looks great! the cool rails do seem popular for this. Personally, I thought the stock was ok.

It's the annual freaks charabanc trip from Oxford to the seaside. 4 bands, we are on at 7.30, playing the psyche/pop end of rock. The audience are as entertaining as the bands, often! Cheers MBA

I'm only using the snare at the moment. Do you know what vintage it is? I'm guessing mine is early/mid 60s
