  1. I love these but don’t they weigh a ton!
  2. Sorry but I think that’s yuk.
  3. I didn’t notice the slight change in the headstock shape. I think I like it better than F’s original. Looking forward to seeing them once in production.
  4. Ace! But will the lawyers be after them?
  5. The 2013 EB plays brilliantly and the pickups and bridge are the same and are excellent. I think the coil tap makes a real difference and turns it into a J sound, but I prefer it in its meatier format. The newer shape didn’t grab me at first but it is reminiscent of the short lived Bunny Brunel which Gibson made. ( Kyle Eastwood has one) . ESP now seem to make his Signature model with an even longer top horn, so on balance I now quite like the new EB and reckon it will play well. Definitely like the black, it are there any out there? ESP Ltd version below.
  6. More treble in the eq. Possibly a little bit of chorus too, I believe that’s Pino’s solution on ‘where ever I lay my hat’.
  7. What a misnomer, should have been called the unlucky 7, but who 7 it only had 6 strings? May be the 7 related to the gap between the strings and the fretboard?
  8. It’s too ugly to be a wall hanger!
  9. I remember these well, the cheapest, nastiest ghastly basses of the 60’s! I don’t think the necks have a truss today and they were notorious for bending like bananas and not being able to be straightened. The pickups were awful housed in that lump of plastic. Vintage it may be but should be condemned. What’s it worth? Ask them to pay you a tenner to take it away.
  10. Thanks Hooky-lowdown that’s what I had assumed until I looked at the Fender site which says they started using it 2008. Curious misinformation from them.
  11. Natural body, maple neck - great.
  12. I picked up a Squier Precision a while ago, but I am confused about the dating. According to the Fender website on serial numbers, Squier started building at the Cort factory in 2008 and the serial numbers use the first 2 digits for the year of manufacture. Mine has 00 as the first 2. Anyone help on this?
  13. Ooh! Used to have one similar but rosewood board, why did I ever sell it!
  14. For a tad over £200 definitely keep. What would improve that great retro look is a set of good old fashioned clover leaf or elephant ear tuners ( or whatever else you want to call them).
  15. Safran semi as a5 Bass Direct?
  16. Thanks for the info. Both basses look great, enjoy.
  17. Good for you, a tip, try not to look, use your ears!👂 You’ll soon get the hang of it.
  18. Shipping costs from Japan have always struck me as outrageous, how was yours? Is it right there there is presently no Import Duty payable as a free trade deal has been done with EU (which in due course UK won’t benefit from after Brexit.
  19. Didn’t know they made one in Japan. The Korean ones are getting expensive 2nd hand.
  20. I had a Washburn AB5 which had a neck like a tree, it coped with low B but was a killer on the hand. Avoid!
  21. Thanks for this. Is it really a semi?
  22. I have one in Candy Apple Red. Indo made, Jazz neck, plays ok, quality is okay. Had to replace both pots and I think the Jazz pu is thin sounding.
  23. Is it just me but I can’t get the pics to download.. Any other way of putting these up?
  24. Are they bold or bonkers? Anyone who complains that makers only churn out Fender clones can stop now. But is the world ready for headless again, Status had to bring in heads because they didn’t sell enough headless and whoever sees a Steinberg? God on them for trying but I Seriously don’t think they’ll catch on generally.
  25. Used to have an unlined Washburn AB5; no problem eith unlined, but the neck on it was a tree! It was a 5 string but with the width sufficient to have converted to a 7. Now have a lovely lined Spectorcore which comes with the Fishman piezo bridge. Nice to play, but surprisingly lacking in Mwah.
