  1. Try La Bella low tension flats. They are a lot thinner than conventional flags that tend to need the nut slots widened before fitting. The low tensions are pretty much similar to rounds and therefore fit as straight replacements. They have a good traditional thump sound which should suit. I love the look of your Doosey by the way, wish I could justify the investment.
  2. It looks like a toy against a long scale P.
  3. How few do you want? Welcome to the over 50s club, now you can go on holiday with Saga. 😆
  4. I’ve never played one, more the pity. Always been a bit wary of them for 3 reasons. 1 short scale. I have owned s/s basses, but not wild about them. 2 neck dive. I assume they’d be neck heavy as the have such a light body. 3 string spacing. I play finger style and the strings look really close together whereas I used to 19mm spacing. However I could really use a lighter weight these days and something really appeals about the violin shape. So can anyone dispel my fears about them.
  5. That looks like the old Harmony guitar which I think Keith Richards used in the early days.
  6. Classic! James Jamiieson all the way.
  7. Would someone like to explain what’s new about this series? Looks like the same old stuff they have been making for years! Shouldn’t 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Precision’s and Jazzes have bridge covers and pickup bridges?
  8. Yuk to pink. The surf green is nice but the dark brown headstock is grim! IMO. Definitely don’t like the etched logo either, a brass inlay would have looked classy.
  9. I wonder when it was restrung all those years ago whether someone just bought a string but not the right scale length. A long scale string on a short scale neck would be pretty floppy.
  10. Chas Chandler Kyle Eastwood (when playing Electric, not so much when he switches to upright) Duck Dunn Carol Kaye
  11. Oh my, beautiful, but how can a semi weigh over 10lbs.
  12. So have I but I think it’s more than 6.5lbs. Really good bass though.
  13. Love that slimmed down Jazz look.
  14. I’ve read that they’re heavy, what do you think?
  15. Good one @gs_triumph . All Four Seasons songs had really strong backings. The original band were great musicians but not such good car thieves, so they ended up having forced absences from the band. In one of their TV appearances the bassist is wielding a Gibson Thunderbird. Not a bass I would have associated with their style. Probably had done deal with Gibson.
  16. There was a gorgeous natural finish “custom” smoked bass on Reverb for a very long time on which they kept reducing the price. I reckon they sold it at a bargain price to some likely fella.
  17. That’s interesting, so the Mossrites and Charvel Surfcasters have probably gone unchallenged. More power to the elbow then for resurrecting some really cool designs. Are they a little expensive for what I assume is Far Eastern manufactured?
  18. As this was presumably sent from Japan, did you escape import duty since Europe is supposed to have done a free trade deal with Japan?
  19. Look like good quality workmanship, but I really don’t like the body shapes and the headstock looks way out of proportion.
  20. No! The batwing headstock makes it. It’s what people are criticising the current Epi. Embassy for not having. How do Eastwood get away with making “replicas” ? Do they get permission or just dodge the lawsuits?
  21. Bought for £157. Someone got a bargain for a luthier made bass even if the condition wasn’t great. Anyone on here the successful bidder?
  22. Sounds like time for some fine grade paper on the neck and you’ll be away.
  23. +1 for a shim. Cheaper than new bridge pieces, a piece of cardboard will do it.
