Done it, nom'd, DONATED, since that was the whole point, to Macmillan and MND Association. It was fun, cold but not as cold as I had thought. Got to tip a bucket of water over my Mrs - what's not to like Don't get the whining, the hype will fade but when it does, so will the exposure for the charity(ies) concerned.

Super idea! I'll be following this one then...
Yes Neil, totally buzzing. I'm still in a state of disbelief that I'm doing this at all, when just over 3 yrs ago I couldn't play a note! Sometimes it feels as though I'm living someone else's life. Rather surreal but quite marvelous. :-)
I've read some inspiring stuff on this site but this takes the biscuit - what a great, happy, positive post.

Valve Amplifiers Only. No Hybrids / Valve pre-amps..
planer replied to VTypeV4's topic in Gear Gallery
This is my sadly departed Fender Bassman 70 being supported by a Peavey 1516E. About a long time ago, this stack set me back less than £200! When I sold the cab earlier this year, the shipping weight was 48kg... Thankfully the sound is equally as large :-) and as for the amp, well - warm, clear and effortless are probably the words I would choose. Heavy, hot, loud would also apply. Great guitar amp too. Really great. They definitely look a bit leaky to me. You're good with the hot glue as a sealant but I find the best replacement smoke comes from a recently-extinguished match, preferably one of those big ol' 'chefs matches', I think they're called. Snuff her out and wave the smoke in the direction of your busted trannies. Quick dab with the hot glue and bingo - you're ready to rock.
Lots of menopausal media/banking/insurance blokes up that Farnham way, many of whom aspire to start blues bands with other menopausal media/banking/insurance blokes. Sometimes there are 'Project Managers'.
Ha, my bruv-in-law plays guitar and lived in Farnham. He was a techy bloke for a bank. Menopausal banking blokes - love it. Shop sounds good though, might have to nip in if I'm up that way.

I think by the sounds of it you were the only bass player there! I agree that you showed much restraint - I'd have been up there as the first hand reached for the bass with a quick 'Oi - that's mine!' (or similar). Maybe, since it was on stage unattended, the other bass players could be forgiven for assuming that your bass was a house instrument, but a word of thanks goes a long way in these situations, and there's no excuse for you not getting that at least. If it were my bass, I probably wouldn't have left it on stage or lent it in the first place, but definitely wouldn't have been able to watch someone else playing it. Torture.

That's a good vid. I was taught this by a PA hire company I worked for and it just works. They ran a training session just for cable handling. The ability to pull a cable out and chuck it across the stage is very handy sometimes, even if for me, this skill is now practised only in the garden with the strimmer cable! Long-term, it's good for the cable too, no kinks or knots, less intermittent issues with broken conductors, no yanking of kinked cables by inept band members, etc etc.

I find it annoying, distracting, selfish and disrespectful to the artist tbh. And 99% of what is recorded is poor quality, so what really is the point? If the crowd had already been asked not to record the gig, and these idiots had already been asked to stop several times by the sounds of it, then PF is quite within his rights to do something, isn't he? Yes, he might only 'be where he is', because of his fans, but it's still HIS show. I'd have had them out of the building, if only to make an example of them.
Thanks fella's. Her Who Makes Toast By Breathing On Bread is worried about this "grinning" carry on
Yeah, be careful - she'll think you're up to something... Lovely bass mate - I'm guessing you're pretty happy :-)
I enjoyed that
Oh yes, very nice lads. That boy can sing can't he?

Blimey that's lovely.
I don't think weights of the main mass market instruments are uniform enough to build a decent database (unless maybe it was continually updated by averaging each duplicated listing). As an example I've weighed Fender J's and P's ranging between 8.5lbs and 12.5lbs and even recent 'identical' US Standards have been between 8.5 and 10.
Scratch that then... :-) I didn't think that through, did I?
-
Since this seems to be a common question, what's the chances of making this a sticky? We could add to the thread over time and turn it into a world-class bass weight database. :-)

Y'know, she sings nice, but I wish she'd put some bloody clothes on. Ok, I get why she does it almost naked but...

I haven't got much to add, and certainly nothing constructive (!), but yuuuuuuummmmmmm. Thanks
I was scared to commit to the note I was about to sing
I found this too, I was worried about making the wrong noise, so chose to make none (and I only sing in the car).
Just keep working at it & you'll probably improve no end.
This is so true, the only place I sing is in the car, when I am on my own and even I have noticed that, the more I sing and the more attention I pay to what I'm singing, the more accurate my noises become. I have found that previously I used to howl along to the stereo and it was quite loud, however I have found it useful, and sometimes frightening, to turn the music down a lot so the loudest noise is me. I would love to have singing lessons, but I can't bring myself to do it, the results would just be too awful for words. Just keep [s]swimming[/s] singing bud.

Now that had the potential to be 'Thread Of The Year' #disappointed I bought stunt too, great album.

Love it. Very 'in yer face', but I'm guessing subtle wasn't a box you wanted to tick.

In no order except my personal preference: 1. Orange 2. Orange 3. Orange I'm liking the blocks and natural headstock too. However, waving a bright orange axe, you may get more attention than the average bass player. Result!
This is one of my favourites, and one of the most beautiful things I think I've ever heard:
I'd have missed my train for them...

Wooooooah - are they for real? Beautiful.

Does that lead go off to his amp then?

What a great intro post! Welcome to the site bud.
