1. Periphery. Saw them twice before but this is the first time I'll have saw them headline. Looking forward to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHwchxc6wsg
2. Very nice! Don't suppose this will be at next years Moffat bass bash?
3. Welcome It's good here but stay away from the marketplace, it can be expensive! Also. Judging by our ages there's a slight chance we may have went to school together (different years though!) Cameron
4. Having owned a Mono M80 and a Vertigo I would say if you do go down the single bag route, the vertigo is the way to go. I sold the M80 because the limited space and if I'm entirely honest the vertigo feels more solid. With regards to the space, I can fit my Genz shuttle 9 into the front pocket with no issue.
5. We occasionally have a "I reckon we should do this but x thinks otherwise" but we always put everything down to a vote and that's that. I think of the main reasons we never really argue is that right from the start we all agreed that if we have something we don't like/agree with we will say and discuss it there and then.
6.
"Do you play any latin music?" "Well, I've been known to dip in and out of salsa"
Jeez...
7. I have...but I've always ended up changing my mind again and selling it.
8.
I waited more than 5 months for mine (collected in July) but BD seem to be operating a 'running order' with regular NG-2 deliveries so if you time it right you could drop on with no wait time.
This is what I done. There seemed to be a few there for quite a while was looking last.
9. Only thing I can really think of is experiment with the strings you're using. Other than that my only thoughts are really to do with the construction of the bass itself.
10.
Record it live then ask for fan input to critique it 😉
Alternatively record it live and post it on here for us to critique. Then show him the thread.
11. Just about anything I regularly listen to most people I know can't stand.
12.
Trade for a Wal??? ...
Ha! Bet me to it!
13. I second the comment about how well these compare to the Canadian models. I prefer my NG-2 to an AB1 I previously had. Looks great in the yellow too.
14.
In 35 years of gigging I have never once been asked by either the band or the audience where my Fender bass was.
I did once. I'm pretty sure I was playing a Warwick Thumb LTD 2006 at the time. The person may have been taking the Piss though. Hard to tell.
15.
Had a fair few high quality basses in my time. Filter preamps have their own thing going. I think you could get a reasonable facsimile of Wal pickups from, say, Armstrong? And afaik some people on this very forum have gone for wal-like ACGs
I've got one if the "Wal-like ACGs". The Multi-coils pickups on them are excellent. Mega responsive and can get a pretty damn close "Wal tone". Saying that it's not a one trick pony which I think people seem to think of Wals. Can't think of a musical setting where the ACG would be out of place.
16. Clayton does what suits the tunes which is what matters really. Just so happens I think the songs are garbage but it's irrelevant when talking about this.
17. Looks like the kind of thing that'd be pretty great in the right hands... ...the right hands being few and far between.
18. Out of those two I'd go for the J-type. Only real reason is I don't particularly like the Gallus shape.
19.
That was my only issue with the ones I tried. The tone just wasn't up my street. Everything else - playability, build - was exceptional.
I found this with the Canadian models I played (AN1 and Z3) but find the NG-2 is great tone-wise.
20. Not normally my style of bass but that's really nice. great job!
21.
The whole notation/tab thing has been done to death in other threads, but it's the attitude of wanting everything on a plate, this instant, that grates on me.
I get that and it is annoying. Half the time there is already a tab in the description I've noticed! You do get some people who are really rude about demanding a tab.
22. The thing I find annoying about it is that they are watching someone play it (generally with full view of the fretboard). YouTube now gives you the option of slowing down videos. As far as the final part of your rant. Some people don't have the time or desire to learn things by ear/read sheet music. Which is perfectly fine in my books. I personally don't use tabs but have nothing against people who do.
23. Change all my strings at the same time and only change when I really think I'll benefit from fresh strings. I use (on any non-Dingwall) Elixirs so don't really have to change that often.
24. I love playing most of my bands songs. As far as other bands music. Sir Duke by Steven Wonderful, Teras by Sylosis and any song by Maximum the Hormone.
25. The Warwick straplocks protrude quite a bit. certainly more than Schallers. Can't say about the dunlops though
