1. Let's keep this description simple as possible. Pros - Super thin neck, lots of tonal options, upgraded pickups (Dimarzios bridge and neck), lightweight, looks rather pretty, cheap. *comes with gigbag* Cons - *gig bag has seen better days*, scratches on finish that are only really noticeable when in the right light, small dent in the back of the neck (Doesn't affect it and not in a place I've never noticed whilst playing). Could do with new strings. Looking for £175 as it's what I paid for it. Trades - a delay pedal, Darkglass B7K, Darkglass Super Symmetry, Aguilar TLC Compressor, MXR Bass compressor or a bass cabinet May consider other bass related gear though. Pics in post No. Can post for the cost of it. 2. Looks like spalted maple to me.
3. Haven't read the replies because I'm exceedingly lazy but if it was me I'd just be asking the singer to put them in his car. Makes no sense at all to ask you do to it if your car is full and his is empty.
4. Only done 3 attempts but got 860. Don't think that's too bad really considering I almost never play with a metronome (I am however going to start using one...so I tell myself.) Edit : Slightly addictive this. about 15 goes I'm now upto 900 on the dot
5. Bump. Keep forgetting to add a photo.
6. As much as I love Wal basses I do agree the headstocks are less than pleasing to the eye. Still want one right enough.
7. I'd take it as a compliment however I can't take compliments so I'd probably end up looking offended when I responded.
8. I'm happy to err...help you with that Bill Bailey ticket situation...
9. So following on from the recent 'glad I'm not sensitive' thread I've noticed a recurring theme where so many people seem to be in bands where other members cannot take constructive criticism or don't appreciate the role of every band member. I guess I'm lucky that in the band I'm in we've all agreed to be 100% honest when it comes to any issues we may have (generally when writing new songs) and we all take and give criticism with no hard feelings. I suppose none of us having an ego is a big help with that. My main question is just why do people stay in bands with people who don't seem to be worth the time and effort?
10. I'm feeling quite lucky I don't have any people like that in my band. Everybody in it seems to play guitar, bass and drums to a fairly decent standard. Our drummer is actually a bassist originally so everybody knows how important each aspect is which is useful. If I were you I would have left long ago. I certainly wouldn't be carrying their gear everywhere.
11.
It's that lemony smell, isn't it?
I only done the fretboard every 2 months or so (unless it looked like it needed it) but it was partly the lemony smell and the fact that I liked to pretend to myself I was doing something productive those days!
12. I cant say I clean my bass after every rehearsal and gig but I do like to keep it clean, give it a wipe down every time it's looking like it needs it. Back when I had a Warwick which could be waxed I generally done that once every fortnight or so but it was mainly just because I enjoyed doing it.
13. Bought this from Tonyclaret on here last week. Used it over a few days and decided it's not for me so back up here it goes. In great Nick and comes boxed with a set of batteries. I put Velcro on the bottom but easily taken off and to put the feet back on. Looking for £65 posted which is what I paid. Try me with trades if you fancy Will get a photo up tomorrow. not got access to it tonight to take one Cameron sold.
14.
Thinking of an ACG LOL B
in that case my advice would be speak to Alan!
15.
Any bass without fretboard dots. They just look unfinished to me.
It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but I find that when basses DO have fret dots they look a bit naff depending on how they are done. Fender/rickenb*cker fret dots just look bad to me. Not a deal breaker however I do much prefer to not have them.

17.
You don't need a car to take a giggable rig to a gig. Gig bag on back, lightweight combo or small cab in one hand, bag with everything else you need in other hand. I've done it. Plus, as a bass player if there's a pa you don't "need" backline. DI box (ideally with Preamp) and you're fine.
Definitely doable however a complete and total faff as well as I quite frankly find it a pain to take the bass (mono case is pretty bulky on rush hour busses), amp and a pedalboard, as well as it doesn't sound like it would do my (already screwed up) back any good!
18.
Also as far as transport goes, rope in your mates, Youll be surprised how much kit you can hang off your body and arms when cramming on to a train!
We all have to head to different trains/busses or I would have tried this, guitarist is happy to drag his amp to gigs on bus so it's just really the cabs we won't have!
On multi band line-ups it`s virtually a given that there will be gear sharing. Usually one will provide drums, another cabs etc. It`s not fair on one band to have to supply all. Plus, inevitably if the headliners have provided it all, many of the other bands then go home once their set is over. Having a bit from each is a good way of stopping this. The best way is to contact the other bands directly via Facebook and organise it between yourselves. This is what we do, and it works well (well up until now at least).
It seems to be a common thing but I've never came across it up until now!
19. Insurance roughly £1500 for a car worth £500 is about the best I've been able to find using loads of comparison websites. That'll be doable although not ideal by any means. As I said, we haven't ever had this issue before and we're all fully aware of the fact we can't be a fully giggable band without these things (hence why we've never claimed to be). And with 3 out of 4 of us becoming employed within the last 2 weeks it shouldn't be too long before that's sorted. At the moment though, things like food and electricity have to be paid before music gear. Having just moved out of the house for the first time as well has been a huge financial drain on me as we got the place and it was completely empty so had to be fully furnished etc.
20.
Me too, not only for gear, but for a car as well knowing at the age of 13 it was the only way to go. How much dosh did you piddle up the wall as a student? Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's a tough world out here so I suggest you consider your priorities pdq.
I only got £300 a month as a student (£100 of which went of travel and the rest on whatever I needed) so not much really! As I've said a few times. I'm aware that owning a car and own gear is essential and haven't ever denied it. It's just not been viable. I didn't even have a band up until a year-ish ago so it's not like it was even a thought when I was working before I became a student. We've always been careful so we didn't get into this position (turning down any gig we were unable to do because of it). None of us are in this band because of the hopes of becoming financially sufficient from it. It's just a hobby for us all really.
21.
Not sure how viable a gigging band you are atm, tbh... so beggars can't be choosers. If there are load-in issues then I might make a call..but tbh... over 90% of the time, my gear will be better for me.... so I have light and heavier rigs to suit the occasion. If I couldn't load-in myself, I'd have to put up with what was already there...whether I liked it or not..or not take the gig.
Indeed. We don't gig very regularly because of this and we wouldn't be doing the gig if we were told the truth by the promoter originally. We know we're not fully gig-ready and because of this we don't look for many gigs (infact we don't look for any gigs, any we've took is ones that we've been offered/asked to play).
22.
How do you rehearse?
Go into a studio that has equipment already set up. I use my own amp but into their cabinet. Drummer uses his own cymbals/kick pedal etc. Singer uses his own mic but the studios own P.A.
23. To clarify (as I'm aware I'm coming across as a bit of an arse with this post) - We never expect a backline to be provided, we always ask. I'm aware it's totally amateurish but up until last month we've all been unemployed students so finances to get a car, insurance and equipment has been pretty much non-existent. However as I've said, getting these things sorted is a priority -hence me finally getting my first amp the other week). 2 of the other members are just about to start jobs as well so it hopefully won't be long until this is no longer an issue.
24. I agree totally with the "learn to drive and get your own gear" comments which is the plan. I've been unemployed -not through laziness- for the last year so finances haven't been there plus with my age, it'll cost me about £2000 to insure a car worth £1000. Starting a (horribly paid) but full time job next week so it's my first priority. We weren't expecting them to hire a full back line as we already know they have access to one and we were told it would be there.
25. I've played maybe 40 odd gigs of this type and never came across gear sharing like this up until now if I'm entirely honest. We were told (all of the bands) when we were booked for the gigs that backline was provided. I don't feel comfortable letting other bands use my amp (due to the number of horror stories I've heard on here). I don't really want to come across as a bit of a dick to the other bands by being happy to use their gear but not let them use mine. There is also the fact that I may not be able to stay until the last band has finished their set due to public transport times. I explained why I don't have my own cab (in short, no way to transport it). It's the fact that it's 4 days to the gig and the bands are only now finding out that they have to bring their own gear (after being told by the people running the gig that it would be provided.). Whether or not they have/can bring gear I have no idea. I know I should have my own gear and it's a work-in-progress (none of us drive and thus have no method of transporting it).
