2. Depending on how loud you need it, Gallien Krueger MB150 series have been a favourite of DB players for a few years. Great little things, and s/h ones often crop up on eaby etc.
3. Washburn EA45 acoustic electric in natural finish for sale. Believe it's a 1992 model, and pretty much top of the Festival series range of instruments from Washburn. The EA45 is the deeper bodied version, whereas I believe the lower models were usually thin bodied. Sounds fine both acoustically and plugged in - been mainly used at home, with occasional gig appearances. Overall excellent condition, just a few very small marks from use but nothing significant. Neck /frets are unworn. Recently restrung with D'Addarios. Comes complete with immaculate fitted hard case too. Spec - solid cedar top, rosewood back and sides. Matching rosewood headstock overlay. Mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard & bridge. 650mm scale length / 43mm nut width Slotted diamond fret markers. 15:1 diecast chrome tuners with pearl buttons. Equis II preamp - volume, lo /mid /hi plus contour tone controls, battery warning & on leds. These retailed for $1049.90 in 1992!! Think they were around the £600 mark over here, (without the case). NOW SOLD! (to non BC person!) Would much prefer cash on collection / meet up / possible help with delivery (I'm near Hull in East Yorkshire). Thanks for looking, cheers Pete.
4. 85lbs is the ONLY reason I sold mine - was getting to the point where I was struggling to get the head onto the 8x10. (Even having a mate help it was still a pain.) BUT I will always remember it as the best rig I've ever used by a mile, and is still the sound I try to get close to with other set ups.
5.
TBF i think having to go to Hull deserves a recompense in itself!
Hey up, easy tiger........its not all bad!
6. Mine was a great JV Squier 50's precision - black body. white plate, maple neck. Sounded fine. Others include my lovely 70's SVT rig - still the best amp I've ever played through. And I can't even think about the 60's strat I sold for peanuts.........
7. I've worked with a few guys from LCM, and they've all been great players and good people. The last 3 editions of Jools Holland have featured LCM players to my knowledge, so must be doing something right?
8.
Aww. shame. One of the best gigs I ever did was at The Springhead. The people who ran it were lovely, but I think they threw the towel in a while ago.
The couple who ran The Springhead for years (Terry & Pam Kent) left a while ago, and are currently running The Ryder Club in Coltman Street,Hull. They made it into the great venue it became, and won numerous awards for their efforts. TBH I played at The Springhead a few weeks ago and no probs with the dosh, although the place did seem to be a bit short on bar staff - people at the bar not getting served is not the way to run a successful pub. Think the current owners can be a bit unconcerned with how things are - amazing in these hard times etc....
9. Just sold Mart a bass - quick easy transaction, and a nice bloke too. Recommended!
10. Bassist is Al Gare, a great player! Older BC ers may remember him playing upright with King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, excellent 50's style r'n'b band. Think he's also done some stuff with Richard Hawley too. Can i just give a big shout for Si Nixon from Leeds who was playing trumpet with John Legend on the same show - nice one Si!!
11. Heard it too - great tune penned by the Bee Gees, but her version much better IMO. Not sure of the bassist though, was a 1977 Warner Brothers release on the album 'Music speaks louder than words'.
12. I've used GK stuff for years - 800RB, and also a 700RBII and am now using a 1001RBII. All been great amps, 100% reliable. I usually run the 1001 with all the tones flat and it sounds brill. Occasionally add a touch of bass or mids if the room demands, but thats not very often. As for them being bright, I've never noticed this with any of them. My favourite maker of tranny amps without a doubt, and around 20lbs not that heavy either. I came to GK after years of Ampeg usage and found them instinctive and usable. Dial in a bit of the boost and off you go! Whats not to like?
13. Met him at the recent Leeds Guitar Show, seemed like a nice geezer who knows his stuff.

15. Rolling Stones - any period! Although following Bill Wyman maybe a tad easier than replacing Darryl Jones....... Also would have loved to play in The Faces - early 70's era though ( less so now with Mr Hucknall on board.)
16. D'Addario XL's. Used them for years, always consistent and never had a duff one or bust one yet! Never liked Rotos BUT their new Roto RB nickel range are really good for the money!
17. Just got an amp from Paddy. Packaged well, arrived when he said it would too!! A really pleasant transaction, and great communication throughout. Highly recommended - nice one! Cheers, Pete.
18. I play in a duo with an acoustic guitarist who uses a capo, ( sometimes as high as 7th fret and beyond ) Never had a tuning issue with my Washburn acoustic bass at all. He uses Shubb capos on a Taylor. As mentioned in previous posts, getting the tension correct on the capo is key issue in not messing with the tuning. Bit of time experimenting should get it sorted.
19.
A lot of festival type gigs ask for this ..or are asked by the council granting the festival licence to ask for this from performers etc . As far as I know gear under 1 yr is exempt from PAT. PLI is normally the resposibility of the venue/organisers. But, yes, it is as well to be conversant and compliant as it may well be the difference between being able to do the gig or not.
I've been asked for PLI a few times this year, mainly hotels - any idea whether this is now compulsory for musos/acts to provide their own?
20. As I understand it, anything that has a plug on it needs testing. That includes the unit as well as the lead. However, not sure all PAT testers see it this way - there seem to be some firms that have sprung up since the ruling that just plug the lead in and okay the gear / issue a certificate. Guess it depends on what price you put on safety / yourself etc. (Believe that the whole PAT thing may soon be abandoned anyway due to poor standards - anyone else heard this?)

22. Liked Rumer, did nt like Grinderman. Was in Leeds on Sunday (to see ace bluegrass band Chatham County Line), and bumped into Nick Cave outside the Malmaison Hotel - he looked very rock n roll, but no one else even seemed to recognise him.
23.
Bass cabs sound better on the ground/stage. If you have to have your sound nearer to your ears, get a second cab.
+1 Only lift mine off the floor if I cant get rid of boominess on hollow stages, otherwise it stays put.
24.
If it's not gone by my next pay day (15/10) I'll take it off your hands.
Ok, cheers.
