Good one Pete- I dont think it is that bad a song but when you have been doing this song for over 30 years it feels a bit like a groundhog day moment! How are you doing anyway?- think you did a do at the Willerby Manor last week- we did the night after you- another black tie do - lots of money in there. The usual suspects.
Hey Bob - am good thanks. Yeah it was us at W.Manor, usual carry on etc (and yes we did play Mustang Sally!) Good to see you fellas still doing it in these hard times, all the best mate.
2.
I left a band that wanted to do My Girl.... its naff with knobs on and its on my list of YEEEEEEEUCH !!
Maybe naff done by most cover bands, but the original Temptations version is sublime. Smokey Robinson's songwriting at it's best, great arrangement and band. Have a listen, you may be surprised how wonderful it is after years of hearing it done to death.

5. +1 to most of the above. My Hohner B2A cricket bat is a great little thing. The compact size was what drew me to it - easy for gigs where travel/stage space may be a problem, and more importantly very light and manageable for old tw*ts like myself. Only disadvantage with mine is the neck being more of a reach due to the strap button position, but this can be solved by one of the Steinberger type extensions which put the bass in a better position - anyone got one they want to sell? Also on EVERY gig I use it for, at least one person will come and ask me what the hell it is!!
6. I use a Washburn AB20. Had it for 15 years, sounds great with acoustic guitars. I plug it into the PA, or sometimes use it with a GK or MB head into whatever cab I have. Sometimes wish it was fretless for more woody sounds, but overall think it does the job fine.

8. I love - acoustic guitars (pref two of with capos!), horns (incl baritone) Hammond Organ, piano (not a keyboardist masquerading as one if you know what I mean!), percussion, pedal/lap steel. This is of course as well as a couple of well sorted electric guitarists (who can play great rhythm and the occasional tasteful solo!), a great vocalist(e), a groovy drummer and oh yeah, ME! Don't want much do I?

10. I've used a few QSC amps over the years with no problems ever. My band currently use the PLX series for PA, and they've been excellent. There is the QSC GX5 model - 2x700watts into 4 / 850 watts bridged into 4 ohms - currently on ebay for £350 new, with free postage. Its reasonably light at 26lbs too, and 2U size for your rack. Should do the job for you, and will hold its price reasonably well for when you next want to have a change!
11. Saw Jimmie Vaughan and Steve Winwood live, who both had no bass players as such but used bass pedals on a Hammond. (Actually worked fine for both.)
12.
What actually makes a keeper is an emotional attachment. Instead people use keeper as a adjective for a bass that is technically good.
This proves your point. My 63 Precision was originally owned by a good friend who played bass in a band I was in circa late 70's (my guit*r period, sorry!) He was tragically killed in a car accident late one night on his way home. A couple of years later his widow got in touch to say she was ready to start letting some of his musical stuff go, and would I be interested. When I went round to see her, she admitted the bass had since been in the loft, and was subsequently in a sorry state. She was adamant that it went to someone who had known her husband, and would restore it to use regularly. This I did, and have now owned it for over 25 years. I could never ever part with it, and have made plans in my will to ensure it will go to someone else who knows its story on my demise. So a keeper it is!

14. I was fortunate to see The Brothers Johnson live at Manchester Apollo in the late 70's. The record store I worked at got some tickets - this was just around the time the 'Right on Time' album came out with this song on it. I did n't know much about the band, but was persuaded by the store manager to go - so glad I did. Was blown away with Louis' playing - was using a natural Stingay IIRC, and sounded awesome. The rest of the band were amazing too. (Apparently Quincy Jones was on the mixing desk too, although I did n't see him!)

17. All of the 70's Dan Armstong stuff was ace - basses, guitars, amps and f/x.
18. You need a reliable amp, so sadly think the Warwick needs to go.
19. Just sold Paul some recording kit - easy transaction, quick payment and good communications. Recommended basschatter. Thanks Paul!
20. Charlie Watts. Also Steve Jordan, Andy Newmark and Steve Ferrone.
21. Loud Technologies are the Ampeg distributor, so first call for spares presumably. [email protected] or Tel 01494 557398 They should be able to help, or put you on to someone near you who can. Cheers.
22. Nice bass! I've always fancied one of these after briefly owning the guitar model in the mid 70's. Dan Armstrongs appear to vary greatly in value - I've seen them go for anything between £400 and over a grand. The Jack Bruce connection is always a help,( especially with rich collectors who willingly snap up anything remotely Cream related) so good luck with your sale. (Maybe try a for sale post on here?)
23. Chuck Berry. Failing that then Keith Richard or Eric Clapton.
