1. The bassline and tone on Elton's 'Step Into Christmas' is just superb. Love the outro especially
2.
Festivals are always a pain, the afternoon / early evening bands will often overrun as their set will take longer than they anticipate due to each band extended endings, squeezing in a longer solo, between song banter, squeezing in another song & simply not appreciating the time that gets taken up between song. It all adds up, leading to delayed stage times later on in the day.
To me that is the fault of bad stage management as much as it is the unprofessionalism of the bands.
3.
Anyone, bassist included, who talks about 'my tone' in that way ... bye bye
+1. Selfish.
4. Warranty issue surely? There are laws protecting the consumer from this kind of robbery.
5. I think a lot of people's perceptions of tone come from what's between the ears, not the ears themselves! With heavy amps, nostalgia is a wonderful thing (although not as good as it used to be back in the day)
6. Talk about it and decide who is willing to adapt their tone to suit - you or him. The ideal answer would be both. The overall sound of the band will improve as a result.
7. I like the threads where WoT mentions Maruszczyk
8.
Only Fender make the REAL Precision. Everything else is a copy.
+1
9. Joni - Dry Cleaner from Des Moines
10. Lovely bass. GLWTS
11. I love The Who but no contest for me - The Beatles have much better vocals, both individually and when blended together.
12.
It seems strange to advertise on gumtree for a jazz bass player, surely any player worth their salt is already connected with the community?
Maybe that's why he wants someone else? Too many people already committed with projects etc.
13. Exit Stage Left is Rush at their best for me. Friggin love Xanadu!
14. Metallica 'Hit The Lights' off Kill 'Em All. That fade in - wow!
15. Love Jaco with Joni but can take or leave his solo stuff/Weather Report etc
16. Camel's 'Rhayader Goes To Town' off the Snow Goose album. Massive synth and huge chords!
17. Squier Classic Vibe Jazz bass - pretty sure you could get one used for under £200. Mine was £199!
18. Amazing player. Love the way he arpeggiates his chords and picks out nice counterpoint notes for melodies etc. Wonderful
19. I wouldn't do it. Spend that night practicing as a band. Will never hurt and can only bring benefits further down the line. Gigging experience is great but not at cost, and if it's going to cause friction then best to leave it.
20. I see a lot of bands using these types of stand-mounted floodlight nowadays. One per side is plenty and they are DMX controllable too.
21. Rush - Take a Friend Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever The way these songs end always leave me wanting more!
22. Yeah I was going to say that maybe they are contracted for 75 minutes or something with a set curfew, so only go on 75 minutes before.
23.
Any autographs?
All he's got is a photograph.
24. I'd say Ashdown based on their great warranty and customer service alone.
