  1. Me too. I love a front-ported vertical 2x10. Can't hack the 40hz Bass control on Aggie gear tho. Way too low a frequency centre to be usable as anything other than a cut IMO.
  2. I'm happy to do one charity gig a year without expenses or payment, provided I know where the money is going. I did a gig once which was 'in memory' of a tragic event but which I later found out was run as a commercial enterprise. I'm much more careful these days.
  3. I suspect the change to digital will lead to Sansamp licensing their sound to Line 6, Neural etc which I would support whole heartedly!
  4. No need to panic. I have found G4M consistently give 2 week estimates from the date you view the product, probably in some attempt to encourage an order. I see the date has slipped 5 days from your screenshot (and here we are 5 days later). It will continue to do so I fear. I have been caught a couple of times over the years with them, assuming an item would be in stock according to their estimates but waiting months longer. I feel this is deliberately misleading the customer.
  5. I've just finished a theatre run for 'Come From Away'. We didn't have sight of the cast for the show, though the MD did. The MD cued all parts and counted in some sections for band where necessary. Their headset mic was mixed into our IEMs, of which we had full control ourselves in the pit (a god send) The guys at the top level could pretty much do a whole show with their eyes never leaving the pad - I was just happy to get through it as a previous non-reader! I found the experience very challenging but hugely rewarding.
  6. Absolutely brilliant band. I knew nothing about them until I watched one of those 'Behind the Music' style documentaries and became an instant fan. I'm Mandy Fly Me is a personal favourite but the hits are all great!
  7. Welcome!
  8. There is a way around the default Simple Delivery option - I give my For Sale items extra large size and weight dimensions and it allows me to select an 'Other Courier 3-5 days' option. That way you can set your own delivery cost and arrange your own courier, just like the old way.
  9. Another NI based Dingwall user here. I really couldn't believe how lightweight these basses are when I first got my hands on one. GLWTS!
  10. I owe virtually all of my (limited) ability to my years as a dep. One August (2016 I think) I depped with 13 different bands in one month. 100% the best way to develop your ear and also interpersonal skills with other musicians. Great for making contacts. The variety too keeps things super interesting.
  11. (Ignore - I re-read the OP and deleted!)
  12. How have you come upon said information in your scenario? Have they told you? It's likely that most people will have a different opinion to you on some subject or other. It all depends on how much they choose to advertise that opinion! If it's not at all, then how would it impact your band? And if it's every day, I could see how that might cause interpersonal issues.
  13. My main set of IEMs are moulded UE Lives which I keep for larger gigs. They are good but I'm not a huge fan of them actually. I moved from JH Audio Roxannes to UE a year or so ago, mainly due to poor aftersales service from JH (but that's another story!) For pub/club work I am happy with the KZs. There is of course a difference between them and the moulds (with seal and fit), but IMO the KZs punch well above their weight in terms of tone per £. The AS16 Pro X come with foam tips but I also have a supply of Comply which I change every 10 or so gigs. The ZAR is the most similar to the UE phones design-wise, as they have a dynamic driver as well as the usual bass/mid/treble armatures. The dynamic driver has a fairly significant impact on what the bass guitar sounds like, and not always in a positive way. I have learned that I prefer the sound of a more traditionally designed IEM without a dynamic driver. The AS16 Pro X fit this bill. A great sounding earphone for around the £50 mark on eBay. The first thing I did was upgrade the cable to one of those 8 core replacements, which cost around £20 in itself but certainly worth it.
  14. The ZS10s have a pronounced hump in the upper mids for sure. I find it's a nice frequency for vocals but probably not best suited for bass guitar. I use both the ZAR and AS16 Pro X and the bottom end is much more present.
  15. Nashville gigs are very poorly paid in general. Even tours with well known artists might only pay $200 per show (with all expenses covered obviously). Small fish in a big pond comes to mind!
  16. Hey @asingardenof how did this turn out? Any issues with the install?
  17. Hey guys! Has anyone played on this musical before? What's it like? Been offered the gig with a local theatre company but the music is dots and I'm usually a chart reader. Not a problem really as I'll get the notation well in advance, but I'm keen to hear what others think about the music and bass part in general! Thanks in advance Danny
  18. I see a lot of guys using 'On Song' for live setlists. No experience here but worth a look!
  19. As a bassist there is nothing more destructive to a band's sound than a drummer who overplays. Sadly we have probably all encountered them! There seems to be an obsession now on chops over more traditional (useful) skills such as time, feel and dynamic. I try to think of the patterns I play as being inextricably linked to the drums, which means that I am conscious of not falling into the same trap of overplaying. It's a tough one.
  20. I would say that there is a little bit more grip than Elixirs, but not really noticeable.
  21. Recent convert to Dragon Skin also. I use them both on 4 string J bass and 5 string multiscale Dingwall. I believe they are coated Hi Beams. Great string with plenty of bounce and life!
  22. I'm happy that he has received the recognition for his contribution to fretless playing but really that sound now is super dated, similar to the whole Mark King thing. It'll no doubt appeal to those who harbour 80s nostalgia, doctors and lawyers with plenty of wall space. I guarantee there will be a Sterling version released in about a year, priced around the £1200 mark.
  23. Probably been said already, but it sounds like a professionalism issue on the part of the musicians who don't bother to commit to the idea.
