  1. Seen a Gretsch short scale (£339 brand new!), a few Fender CS Jaguars with humbuckers, and a white Starcaster bass. Didn't watch the full set tho!
  2. Not bass related, but how many of the singers' voices sound absolutely knackered? Even the younger artists - I expected it from Axl!
  3. Click tracks are very common on the touring circuit and very necessary as very often lighting, visuals and even guitar patch changes are synced to automatically change at an exact point in a song/live show. Backing tracks however are a bit of a bone of contention. I wonder why artists don't hire an extra session cat or two to cover parts, particularly at something like Glasto.
  4. SO many more Ricks than I anticipated! Is there a negative trend in the typical festival bass - the short scale Fender (Mustang etc)
  5. I used a 3 PRO at a gig in Brisbane recently and found it very underpowered when used with a SVT 810.
  6. Hey Dicey! Welcome to the forum. Plenty of guys from this side of the water on here

  8. Just caught their Radio 1 Big Weekend set (the full thing is on Youtube) and was very impressed, having never seen/heard them before. Lovely polished pop music with a bit of an interesting dynamic.

  10. I boost a little bass and a little treble on the amp and just use the tone control to suit. Flats give me the perfect tone with very little work.
  11. How's the tone? Looks great! Did you get hit with customs/import duty etc?
  12. There is quite simply no way the fingerboard wood on a fretted bass could possibly make a difference to tone IMO. The strings never touch the fingerboard wood along the entire speaking length of the string i.e. from nut (or fret) to bridge. Metal strings touch metal frets and vibrate in the pickups' magnetic field, and that's it. I can see how fretless boards possibly might affect tone or sustain, but certainly not on fretted instruments.
  13. There are really not too many giggable options under £300 new but if I could snag a Sire passive or a Squier CV bass I would be relatively happy.
  14. I am surprised he made it through that tour alive! By all accounts - an absolute weapon.
  15. Wow, I never knew this was his playing. Cool!
  16. Very nice. Just had a look at their website - tempted by one of the Apollo Pro basses in white. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
  17. I've had quite a few basses shipped to me here in NI with Parcelforce and DHL and all have arrived safely and without any hiccups.
  18. Sounds like a toxic environment. I would run for the hills.
  19. I love La Bella 760FS on a Jazz every bit as much as a Precision. They are a mainstay on all my J basses bar one which has rounds.
  20. Any other users? I was backstage at Metallica this past weekend and played one of Rob's basses through a Fractal AX8 - the tone was unbelievable! Making me rethink my setup. I'd love to try an FM9.
  21. Can you organise and promote your own gig at one of these rural venues? Might be the start of a regular gig and will help increase your profile locally.
  22. It's a fairly uninspiring tone by itself but in the context of the material it is just perfect. A common theme with P basses actually!
  23. I didn't think I would ever need more than 4 per side when I had UE11s, but then when I got JH Roxannes (12 per side) the difference in clarity was simply incredible. So I wouldn't write them off
