  1. To my ears, front porting sounds better. I have had the opportunity in the past to directly compare front ported with rear ported, and the front porting always wins. Also helps massively if a cab is in a 'live in' flightcase when touring, where rear ports would be blocked by the case itself. There might be data to suggest otherwise but there is nothing to my ears that sounds better than luscious bass spilling out of a port in the same direction as the speaker is projecting.
  2. Cheers guys but as far as I can make out, neither of those boxes are front-ported. Appreciate the recommendations tho
  3. Does such a beast exist?
  4. I have to say that since upgrading to the KZ ZAR's, I find the listening experience altogether more enjoyable.
  5. Absolutely agree 1000% with this assessment of Rick Beato. A true dinosaur.
  6. The difference between the small time and the big time is £50 a night!
  7. Yeah I'd buy a standard 45-105 set, drop tune it then buy a single extra string from the manufacturer.
  8. Interested to see how this turns out!
  9. I wonder if replacing the bridge with a Badass or Kickass might be a worthy upgrade. Those stock bridges are quite poor.
  10. I'm tempted. The pickup alignment actually looks good for a change, even the EBMM Darts have that weak G pickup design consistently throughout the MM, J and P. Nice to see it shipping with EBMM flats - that's around £45 of the cost accounted for already.
  11. Hey guys Selling some pairs of these renowned IEM earphones. New and sealed Well-respected brand of IEM earphones which compete easily with household name brands which cost 3 times the price - lots of info on these in the IEM Bible thread! 5 drivers per side I'm asking £40 per pair with free UK P&P - payment by Paypal or Bank Transfer is cool! PM me if interested - Thanks Danny
  12. A business account is a bit complex, probably best to avoid that route. How about a Revolut/Monzo online/app account that everyone has access to? You can then use virtual debit cards to pay for band-related stuff instead of everyone having a physical card.
  13. Time for a new set! Within 2 or 3 gigs they will deaden nicely. No other strings sound like La Bellas to my ears. Just put a set on a short scale Hofner Beatle Bass and the tone is unreal!
  14. Likewise. I use a HPF/LPF block which I suppose simulates a cab's sonic range, and a different preamp depending on the gig (Zeroamp or Regal). Very happy with the tone!
  15. I've been thinking about doing the same as you and have similar questions about method. Looking forward to some informed responses. Your vid looks good by the way!
  16. I like the nickel Lo Riders - they seem to have a midrange fundamental that is just missing with other brands of strings. No idea why, possibly my imagination, but I always return to them.
  17. Yes, multiple times. I blame congested wifi - never had any issues in smaller venues but it's the larger ones where you get the most benefit out of going wireless. I bought the system as I saw Simon McBride was using the same thing on the Deep Purple tour but just not quite confident in it.
  18. I use the GLX16D+ and have experienced some wifi issues in larger venues (5k+) with lots of wifi around. A lot of the pros seem to use Shure Axient - I think that's my next move for reliability.
  19. I owned the TH500 and didn't like it at all. Just wasn't clean enough sounding. It didn't have anywhere near enough volume for me before a horrible digital distortion ensued. Also, as with all Aguilar amps - the 40hz Bass control is simply redundant as anything other than a cut, as this is much too low a level to be used effectively. Again, all my opinion - you might have a better experience!
  20. This would be the last time I ever darkened the door of said venue, and well done for naming and shaming so that others can avoid the embarrassment.
  21. I can confirm this. I used the SE215s in the past and much prefer the KZs for less half the cost.
  22. Yes me too, looking forward to hearing them. For the cost it's worth the risk. I'm buying on a recommendation and they appear to have one extra balanced armature (5) compared to the ZS10 Pro X (4) so maybe that might be good for us low enders!
  23. My ZS10s died on Saturday night at a gig - I think it might be the cable, but after 3 years service in my pub duo I think it's about time for a new set! I went for the KZ ZSX this time on a friend's recommendation. 6 drivers per side. Bass is supposed to sound very good through them. This time I also added a braided 8 core cable for some extra reliability. Total cost was $49 for the ZSX and $31 for the cable. Very confident that I will have a banging set of phones for around £70 all in (I also recommend the Comply foam tips, Sonicfoam also supposed to be very good). I usually use JH Audio Roxannes for my touring band and have been very happy with the KZs for pub gigs.
  24. Why do they never make basses in normal White or Olympic White? Strewth!
