eBay 'Simple Delivery' (yeah, bøllocks it is!)
acidbass replied to binky_bass's topic in General Discussion
There is a way around the default Simple Delivery option - I give my For Sale items extra large size and weight dimensions and it allows me to select an 'Other Courier 3-5 days' option. That way you can set your own delivery cost and arrange your own courier, just like the old way. -

I owe virtually all of my (limited) ability to my years as a dep. One August (2016 I think) I depped with 13 different bands in one month. 100% the best way to develop your ear and also interpersonal skills with other musicians. Great for making contacts. The variety too keeps things super interesting.

(Ignore - I re-read the OP and deleted!)

How have you come upon said information in your scenario? Have they told you? It's likely that most people will have a different opinion to you on some subject or other. It all depends on how much they choose to advertise that opinion! If it's not at all, then how would it impact your band? And if it's every day, I could see how that might cause interpersonal issues.

My main set of IEMs are moulded UE Lives which I keep for larger gigs. They are good but I'm not a huge fan of them actually. I moved from JH Audio Roxannes to UE a year or so ago, mainly due to poor aftersales service from JH (but that's another story!) For pub/club work I am happy with the KZs. There is of course a difference between them and the moulds (with seal and fit), but IMO the KZs punch well above their weight in terms of tone per £. The AS16 Pro X come with foam tips but I also have a supply of Comply which I change every 10 or so gigs. The ZAR is the most similar to the UE phones design-wise, as they have a dynamic driver as well as the usual bass/mid/treble armatures. The dynamic driver has a fairly significant impact on what the bass guitar sounds like, and not always in a positive way. I have learned that I prefer the sound of a more traditionally designed IEM without a dynamic driver. The AS16 Pro X fit this bill. A great sounding earphone for around the £50 mark on eBay. The first thing I did was upgrade the cable to one of those 8 core replacements, which cost around £20 in itself but certainly worth it.

The ZS10s have a pronounced hump in the upper mids for sure. I find it's a nice frequency for vocals but probably not best suited for bass guitar. I use both the ZAR and AS16 Pro X and the bottom end is much more present.

Nashville gigs are very poorly paid in general. Even tours with well known artists might only pay $200 per show (with all expenses covered obviously). Small fish in a big pond comes to mind!

Upgrade Sire V7 with Sadowsky preamp
acidbass replied to asingardenof's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hey @asingardenof how did this turn out? Any issues with the install? -
Hey guys! Has anyone played on this musical before? What's it like? Been offered the gig with a local theatre company but the music is dots and I'm usually a chart reader. Not a problem really as I'll get the notation well in advance, but I'm keen to hear what others think about the music and bass part in general! Thanks in advance Danny

Android Tablet... software for setlist & notes
acidbass replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Accessories and Misc
I see a lot of guys using 'On Song' for live setlists. No experience here but worth a look! -
As a bassist there is nothing more destructive to a band's sound than a drummer who overplays. Sadly we have probably all encountered them! There seems to be an obsession now on chops over more traditional (useful) skills such as time, feel and dynamic. I try to think of the patterns I play as being inextricably linked to the drums, which means that I am conscious of not falling into the same trap of overplaying. It's a tough one.

I would say that there is a little bit more grip than Elixirs, but not really noticeable.

Recent convert to Dragon Skin also. I use them both on 4 string J bass and 5 string multiscale Dingwall. I believe they are coated Hi Beams. Great string with plenty of bounce and life!

I'm happy that he has received the recognition for his contribution to fretless playing but really that sound now is super dated, similar to the whole Mark King thing. It'll no doubt appeal to those who harbour 80s nostalgia, doctors and lawyers with plenty of wall space. I guarantee there will be a Sterling version released in about a year, priced around the £1200 mark.

EBMM Darkray 4 - Obsidian Black - PRICE DROP - *SOLD*
acidbass replied to acidbass's topic in Basses For Sale

Probably been said already, but it sounds like a professionalism issue on the part of the musicians who don't bother to commit to the idea.

Bass response is all about the seal for me, so going custom moulds is a cert. However, I do like the KZs for bar type gigs - I own both the ZS10s and ZARs (both with foam tips) and I'm quite happy with both.

I'd like to make this same mod on my NG3 5 string, but I think BD only have the bridges in black. I'd love one in chrome. Time to email Payson I guess!

Hi all I am selling this pack of 5 x brand new and unused Van Damme patch cables. Each cable is 30cm in length from connector to connector. Cable is Van Damme Classic XKE instrument - tough as nails and more robust than the equivalent patch cable. Connectors are low profile pancake-style TS mono jacks. Will not split, selling as a lot of 5 cables for £35 including UK P&P Thanks! Danny

Hi all I'm looking for some advice I would like to wrap 3 x Dingwall pickups in a white colour. The pickups themselves are epoxied into the shells and white covers are not available either as an option or aftermarket upgrade. I am thinking some kind of vinyl wrapping (like they use on car parts) might work. Does anyone have experience of doing something similar? Cheers! Danny

Option 2 for me. Whilst I agree it might appear unprofessional, it would be even more unprofessional to go onstage for 2+ hours with a terrible live sound.

I don't like the form factor. It seems as if when you step on one of the footswitches, the whole unit will rock forward towards you? I don't know. I would be hesitant to take it on tour!

Looks like Townshend has announced a U turn now, and Zak is back in the band!
