1. The Fender Custom Shop 63 pickup has a nice bit of breakup with volume and tone maxed. Pair that with rounds and I think you will be half way there.
2. My Recents: Undertones - My Perfect Cousin KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See Killers - Somebody Told Me Lovely bass sounds
3. Haven't watched the video but IMO a pro player should be able to read and play by ear equally as well.
4. If Ashdown don't make the cab you want, I've always found them very helpful and open when it comes to custom orders. EG if you need a 4 ohm 4x10 or something, they will make it for you. Worth a note just in case you don't see the exact cab combination you are after,
5. Thanks guys. That sounds ideal actually Tony. I will give him a bell!
6. Hi all Interested in options for the above. Ideally would like a Jazz width nut and a shallower profile than my existing 'ray, as I am more akin to Fender basses. What is good out there? Heard mixed review of Moses necks. What about Status? All advice gratefully received. Danny
7. I think they have gone specifically for JE's live tone from the Leeds era e.g. slab Precision through driven Hiwatts. His tone on the albums was a lot cleaner on record. Sounds good to me tho!
8. Meh. Dave Grohl is a bit of a two-trick pony for me.
9. Going to see a band called Slaves tonight - 2pc electro sort of stuff. Never heard them before but apparently they are good!
10. I could maybe have a go at it Jass but the equipment I'd be using would be quite basic! It is a very 'Ray' sound anyway with the treble open, and leans more towards that 70s pre-EB Ray tone when treble is cut. I will see what I can do this weekend
11. BUMP! Had a bit of interest on Facebook but would rather sell to a trusted BC-er! PM me
12. Price drop to £280 including shipping to UK! Bargain! If I posted soundclips of this baby (which I might well do!) you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a 70's Ray!
13. It varies from region to region, although there are many crossovers. One tip I found helpful was to start thinking of songs as progressions e.g. Stand By Me is 1-6-4-5, which means that you can pretty much transpose on the fly no matter what key the song is called in.
14.
"Substitute" by The Who.
Love it. That big open Precision sound is incredible!
15. Start your week off with a healthy dose of BUMP!
16. Bought an amp from Eddie - Great transaction overall, fast replies and shipping to me was like lightning! Amp was well packaged too. Highly recommended! Cheers pal
17. The one thing I would say in defence of Ashdown is that their warranty and aftersales service is really second to none. I would have no hesitation buying some of their gear.
18.
If they stand/sit there casually busking with a view that cause its not enough money ect...... I would question why they accepted the gig in the firstplace. i wouldnt have advertised it as : dep (insert instrument here) required for £50.00/£200.00 gig
I once had a dep who turned up in foul form and complained that if he were running the gig, he would definitely be paying the musicians £x amount. This was despite him having agreed in advance to do the gig for a fee. He grumbled the whole night and needless to say, was never asked back again. I am aware that despite considering himself a professional player, he regularly sits in on the busy nights of the week when others are out gigging. I wonder why! There is a very definite difference in someone who makes a living from music, and a professional bass player.
19. Most gigs I've done as a dep in function bands have featured a setlist which is around 80% the same as the last - no matter what the band. Learning a pop/rock function set will do you the world of good in many senses. I wouldn't look at it like it is learning a full set for one gig. It's great experience and will work in your favour long after the gig is done.
20. I had exactly the same combination of cabs a few years ago. Thunderous! Best of luck with the sale!
21. I have CS 62s in my Squier CV Precision. Love 'em!
