Hi all, It is with great regret that I am putting up for sale this wonderful bass! However - I just don't have a use for it any more due to playing Jazz basses exclusively. If there is no interest I will keep her but this beauty deserves to be played. CLICK ON PHOTO FOR HI-RES MORE PHOTOS BELOW The bass is an OLP MM2 4 string Stingray bass. These are the licenced copies of Ernie Ball Musicman Stingrays and they feel identical. To be honest this one is a little lighter on the shoulder than an old EB Stingray which I had previously. Anyway - I bought the bass second hand (stock) and had some modifications performed by a luthier: - John East MMSR 2 band EQ (based on a 70s 'Ray) - Nordstrand MM 4.2 pickup (based on a mid 70's pre-EB 'Ray) - Cream scratchplate (made by The Bass Doc of this parish) - Full setup and fret dress I really wanted to emulate that Bernard Edwards, mid-70's Stingray tone and to be honest, the modifications absolutely nailed it! The bass sounds so funky with the treble rolled off (think 'Good Times'), and when the treble is maxed there is a lot of definition with a lovely high end zing for slapping. The new scratchplate was just an aesthetic thing but it looks really good against the natural/maple combination. Unfortunately, as I said above, I'm pretty much using one of two Jazz basses for my gigs now and I don't believe in having good instruments sitting idle and not being played. Overall this cost me £150 for the bass, £110 for the preamp, £100 for the pickup and £40 for the scratchplate. Total cost of parts - £400, plus labour on top. I will take a little less than that at £280 INCLUDING SHIPPING. The bass will also be restrung and setup with a new set of Rotosound roundwounds. I will package the bass meticulously and send it via courier. Prefer payment via Bank Transfer to save on PayPal fees - see my feedback thread and buy with confidence. Thanks for looking and happy EADGing Danny

I don't know how The Ox did it. If I were playing with a drummer as busy as Keith Moon (and I sometimes do!) - my instinct would be to keep the bass playing tight to steady the ship. I don't think there will be another rhythm section like Entwistle and Moon ever.

Michael your cabs and basses make me feel all funny! Absolutely beautiful!

Hi all Up for sale is a mint condition Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 900w lightweight amp head. This is a very popular head among forumites and I purchased mine from another member a few months ago (whose name escapes me!) 900w @ 4ohms, 500w @ 8ohms This head has a valve in the preamp that sounds simply lush - really beautiful warmth to the tone with the valve gain utilised, and the EQ section is super versatile. I can dial in all sorts of tones with it, from a nice bright zing for my Stingray right through to a midrange thumpo for my fretless Precision. I have never had to have the master up past 11 o clock with my Barefaced cabinet - this head has headroom in spades! Also sounds equally great at lower volumes. Not in a hurry to sell this although my reason for sale is that my current work requires in ear monitors, and so my backline is sadly redundant. Such a shame to let a monster setup go, but I fancy some custom in-ear moulds and they aren't cheap Payment by Paypal or bank transfer (preferred to avoid fees!) - asking £400 which includes a snug padded gig bag (shown in picture, not GB official one though), and postage by courier. PM me for more info Cheers

Very interested to hear your opinions on how this compares with the GB, especially volume-wise!
There's a bit of demand for this, so I thought I might as well kick it off. C'mon you Limelighters... get involved! (Note: If the 'F' logos upset you, I respectfully ask that you start your own thread, or write a strongly-worded letter to the Daily Mail.) Here's my '63 relic: http://basschat.co.u...zz-medium-relic
Beautiful bass, Michael. Is it getting the playing time up against your vintage Fenders?

George Ezra - Budapest Ed Sheeran - Sing Sam Smith - Stay With Me Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This Not the most lively selection but definitely recognisable

Hi all, Anyone on here use one of the above? Got some serious GAS for one but haven't played one in the flesh (although I will get the chance in a few weeks) Are they worth £1600 or would I be better going for a Lakland/D Lakin/Sadowsky? Active not a necessity - I favour passive basses anyway. The Fenders are real beauties though! All opinions valued Danny
Hate to bring up old threads, but for my own ego I thought I would. We've just been offered a 4 month cruise on Princess, leaving LA and down the east coast to Mexico starting in Jan! Over the moon. So to anyone trying, you can do it! I never ever thought I'd be able to play music for a living but it is possible. Keep working hard and it'll come.
Congrats! I know a guy who does FOH sound for Princess - he's from Northern Ireland so if you hear the accent you'll know he's the guy!

Brilliant! Well done buddy! -
John Glascock for me, class player! Love his playing on SFTW. Again another one taken from us too early!
-
Best of good health to you, Howard! The scratchplate you made me is a fine bit of work and I hope you can continue doing what you love at some point in future.
Ah.. I see where the confusion has come from! What I meant is that the neck pickup AND tone are backed off. Same for the bridge pup. I'll re-do the clip and update it later. :-)
Thanks for confirming! No need to go to that trouble - I read it wrong! Top sounds either way
I made some sound clips. (Disclaimer: I'm just a dabbler when it comes to home recording)
Michael - lovely sounds - am I right in saying that the Bridge pickup and Neck pickup are noted the wrong way around?

Would you all say that the TI's have a looser tension than the La Bella DTFs? Considering putting a set on one of my Precision basses - currently have DTFs on two Jazz Basses and sometimes find the tension a bit heavy.

Did you buy the neck undrilled?
