2. Depends on the band and the MD. She will play everything note perfect from start to finish, arrangements nailed, you could even write solos for her. To some this would be a God send!
3. Overpriced - as are all Warwick chrome models. £3k for a bolt on, woe is me!
4.
I'd expect professional musicians to be up to speed with a two hour set within a week of whole day rehearsals.
I think that is even too long. If I were to hire a band of professional musicians and pay them for rehearsal, I’d expect them to know the material as per the original recording for the first play-through. The rehearsal would be necessary only for amending arrangements (which in theory could be done in advance too with demo recordings or simply performance notes the song in question) All the above assuming it’s a covers band type setup.
5. Wow! A real beauty!
6. I’ve started numerous working bands before. It’s pretty easy if you dedicate the time to it and doesn’t feel like a job at all. The financial investment would be quite a way down my list of priorities. Obviously there will be some funding required in respect of advertising (setting up website, promo etc) but this isn’t a huge outlay in my experience. Having a good image is everything in today’s market - unfortunate as it may be. Musically, I would definitely use a click track to keep the tempos on an even keel – been let down by too many drummers in the past. Rehearsals once a week to begin with and then once a month once band has a calendar of gigs. I would target bars to begin with, moving on to festivals. I would have an album of original material too once the band has developed a sound, this will help secure support slots for larger acts as most aren’t interested in having a cover band open up for them.
7.
Part way through the tour Mr Anderson added a song to the tour set that required a fretless
That's such an Ian Anderson thing to do! Cool story
8. Depending on the instrumentation of your band, singer, arrangements, keys etc etc, you will only ever get so close to the original sound of the song anyway. I’d concentrate on fitting your playing and tone around the others in the band, instead of worrying too much about replicating the tone of the original player on the record. FWIW I use a Jazz Bass on all my gigs and only ever use two settings:

Both pickups maxed, tone maxed
Bridge pickup only, tone maxed
There’s just something about the sound of J and P basses that seems to sit well in every mix.
9. Lovely! Great pics too, very pink! GLWTS
10. Great news for NI - looking forward to seeing some more world class acts over here.
11. Wow! Looks awesome!
12.
I was going to get one but went for the QU16. I found working off a pad restrictive. Only a personal view. I got a stand so I could 'hang' the QU16 and its takes up much less space. Can still use a pad if I want.
Is there anything you can do on the QU16 that you can’t on the QU SB via QU Pad?

14.
Yep, I've just upgraded to a QU-SB and am very happy with it. Slightly more complicated UI than the Mackie DL I was using before but now I'm familiar with it it's pretty straight forward. Fits in an SKB shallow rack case (4U) with an Airport Express router velcro'd to the top of the inside of the rack and is a nice compact solution.
That’s pretty much exactly the setup I’m going to invest in. Not used the Mackie but familiar with Qu Pad etc so hopefully should be a straightforward transition. Thanks for the feedback!
15. Hi All Anyone using one of these for live mixing? Thinking about picking one up. I currently use a QU 16 (which isn't mine) controlled by iPad - I gather it's pretty much exactly the same bar the physical faders and knobs. Thoughts welcome Danny
16. That Birdseye! GLWTS
17. Having owned and played a Bravewood as my main axe for over 10 years now, I have to say I find that price very reasonable indeed. Quality basses.
18.
25,000 topics and we still don't know what bass is best for metal!?!
47% of topics mention the word 'heft' 22% Barefaced 19% Maruszczyk
19. Hot Covers for me. Had Roqsolid but they began falling apart after about a year of heavy touring.
20. Seems rather shady that this isn't intimated to customers before agreeing the 'sale' - however it does seem quite reasonable given the work that BD put in to sell the bass.
21. Always G for me
22. Sounds great! Enjoy every minute of it!
23. Looking into buying an interface for my iPad - only need 1 in/1 out really, so the iRig HD2 is high on my list. Slightly concerned re the latency issue however.
