  1. When you plug in does it transform your playing into that of James Jamerson? Lovely stuff.
  2. Interesting. I read somewhere that the noise is because the wrong resistors have been fitted to these basses but It didn't explain why and what a remedy would be. I have managed to get a great action with almost perfect intonation on my bass so really happy with that aspect. My E is tight with maybe the harmonics my only grump. I have looked at an active EMG PJ set as someone also wrote that you tend to get less noise issues with an active bass. No idea about this either. Considering that a good set of pups will cost almost as much as the bass itself I didn't want to buy ones which need major mods. I shielded the cavity and replaced the plastic knobs with black anodised ones. The lightweight and size is great. The neck is quite flat and wide even though it is short scale with good access. I still have the strings on it that it came with. Will need to borrow a micrometer to determine what gauge they are although its possible it won't be standard. I did contact Ibanez on their website but never got a response.
  3. I like the look of this being a wee fella. Is postage a possibility?
  4. Looks fab!
  5. I like my Ibanez Mikro bass so much it has become my main bass and so I'm keen to make it sound as good as it possibly can. I think the PJ setup works really well with a good range of tones available but its either an issue of wrong pots or dodgy pups as there are some noise/hum problems and also bleeding between pups and tone etc. If this can be fixed by changing the pots alone I would be happy to know but otherwise I'm wondering if anyone knows if any brands will be a direct replacement fit for the existing pups?
  6. What would shipping be to the Glasgow area?
  7. The anodised pickguard really sets it off.
  8. Nice work! Getting a cool lookalike/soundalike for not a lot of cash. Certainly less to worry about on gig duty.
  9. Cool. Always wanted a lefty one of these.
  10. I like the look of the Gold Tone micro basses. They do one with a longer scale length so prob better intonation and also an electric cutaway version. The UK stockist is Eagle Music.
  11. Haven't played one just watched reviews on youtube and fancy a portable upright-sounding bass. I can't see the ME on the website at the moment to verify the price.
  12. I contacted Eagle Music about getting a Gold Tone micro ME bass, fretless left handed version. Very helpful and turns out the factory in the States will do any mods before shipping. I play with the strings upside down and asked for a right hand bridge and nut fitted. Still deliberating as not sure I can currently justify spending almost £400 ( which includes fee for the mods )
  13. Pics aren't showing on here for me but interesting about the P basses.
  14. Nice subwoofer you got going on in the back of that Mini!
  15. One of my favourite ever basses to play was a beatles bass copy by Tanglewood. Being a copy these days doesn't mean its going to be any less a bass than the real thing. Especially the typical sound from a semi-hollowbody.
  16. Look forward to more pics
  17. Fantastic! 1960+70's tribute band bassists please form a queue here....
  18. Love that colour combo. Both P's look fab.
  19. And to think that Flea was given the bass by a fan! Also, how long before there's a Limelight copy?
  20. I'd love a lefty one of these but I doubt that's gonna happen. If anyone is interested I spotted a Flea signature on ebay at the moment for £690.
  21. Here is a pic of the underside of my Eden WTX262. Look like the stick on rubber type.
  22. I used to pay £60 a pop for the privilage and was never satisfied so began doing it myself with similar results. Not too difficult really if bass is a good player in the first place.
  23. Be interesting to know how the bass plays strung as BEAD with the longer string length on the lower strings.
  24. Thought it would be cool to have a place to show off basses seen online that may be of interest. I've just spotted this at my local music store. Drool.... http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/left_guitars_detail.asp?stock=160308295921002
