1. I just acquired an Ibanez Mikro. Great little bass but Im having what is some sort of live hum issue. The bass has a PJ configuration. The back J pup is not affected, it just seems to be the front P pup. With the tone rolled off there is no hum with this pup either but it is when I introduce the tone I get that buzz whuch only disappears if I touch either the tone or P volume pots. Ive already shielded both pup cavities and the control cavity so at a loss as to how to sort it. Any help appreciated in advance!
2. Absolutely gorgeous looking Thumb.
3. What about a Hofner 500/1? Super light. Classic look. I like the model in black. The comtemporary series sound pretty modern too as they have a solide piece of wood inside the body for sustain.
4. Great price. Love those tulip tuners too. Shouldn't be for sale long.
5. I have an electro-acoustic Alveraz mini travel bass. Here it is pictured with a parlour six string acoustic for size comparision. No need for an amp to practice.
6. Purchased a Boston BTU-150. Goes green when in tune, red when flat and orange when sharp. Auto cut-off when not in use or when unclipped. Simples!
7. Thanks for the info. Maybe the 15" version will have the headroom to push some bass.
8. Shouldn't there be holes either side of the bridge where the chrome ashtray cover would have been?
9.
QTX make some battery powered mini PAs. I have the 10" version, QTXqr10pa.
How you find it for bass? Are you using it for busking?
10. That's gorgeous and close to me. If it were a lefty I would snap this up.
11. Can it be run on batteries by any chance?
12.
QTX make some battery powered mini PAs. I have the 10" version, QTXqr10pa, although I think they also make 12 and 15" versions. Cheap and reasonably effective, with very good battery life.
I've been looking at these.
13. Just acquired an Ibanez Mikro. Here it it next to my Fender Jazz for a size comparison.
14. Picked up this today. Small-bodied, short-scale Ibanez Mikro. Here it is next to a Fender Jazz. Have had a quick play on it and the bottom end is good. Don't know what strings it has come with. Maybe someone will know what Ibanez ship their basses out with.
15. Andy, you truly are gifted. Well done!
16. Checked out the Roland Street Cube today. Not loud enough for using bass on the street. I think though that there is a louder model but that retails at almost double the price. May explore using a battery-powered keyboard combo with a 12" driver.
17. I also have a shorty incoming. I was thinking if Im lucky there might be a suitable guitar gigbag but will do it old-school by taking the measurements then going round some music stores.
18. Just spotted this on ebay. Haven't checked for reviews regards suitability for busking but might make a nice home practice setup giving out 6 watts in stereo.
19. Hope this doesn't knock the prices up. Im still trying to save for a compact gen 3 cab myself.
20. I believe Scott uses these himself on tour and in the studio. Must say something as to the quality.
21. Is anyone using or has knowledge of a portable bass amp that is powerful enough for busking? I tried a Pignose, not technically a bass amp, and it couldn't cope with the low frequencies. I've heard about the Roland Micro Cube but it didn't look to me like a busking amp, more just a portable low volume practice amp.
22. Sooooooooo cool! Love this.
