I’m glad they’re doing something about Denmark St, especially re The 12 Bar.

Re the Jazz/BB, I felt that overall the sound was very similar, but that on the higher notes the Jazz was a bit treblier.
-
Given how loud and full sounding the RM500 is I can’t see the 300 not being similarly great & excellent.

There is a major gap between the top and the rest now, and I don’t think people really appreciate it. It is strange, what other industries give away products so freely.

Finally! My first ever solo release video...

Super funky! -
I’ve three copies of Never Mind The Bollocks by The Sex Pistols, my original vinyl version and 2 CDs, one of which is the remastered version which I bought for the car. Similarly I have 2 CD versions of Appetite for Destruction by Guns N Roses for the same reason, again remastered version for the car.

The Players are very good basses, congrats.
-
For overdrive pedals I’d like to hear the just break up stage rather than the full on demos. Sure the full on stuff can be fun but unusable in many situations unlike the just hitting break up stage.

Scratch the itch and get the Precision. Pretty much all of my fave bassists played Precisions but for some reason I tried to get that sound from loads of other basses (unsuccessfully) rather than just buy a trusty Fender Precision. But the day I did, well it all finally clicked & made sense.

Just watching The Jam, Bruce Foxton really doesn’t get the credit he deserves, his playing is both very melodic and busy. Couple this with that he sings on most of the songs as well as I think it’s a shame that he’s often overlooked with Paul Weller occupying the genius position. -
I think I’ve come to the conclusion that switching allegiance from Precisions to Jazzes is really all I should do at present, and keep everything else as it was.

Yeah it just wasn’t “me”, Bas. Very good pedal, did exactly as described but as I often find - to the cost of my wallet - I just prefer my bass/Para Driver/amp set up. Anything else in the line and it just sounds “wrong”, much the same as when I play a non-Fender bass. I suppose it just means I’ve found my ideal set-up (with backups, to keep on topic).

Two sets now £30 inc delivery in UK Both sets are 50-105 and have been used, one has been on for about an hour, the other for about a month (about 10 hours use) so essentially you’re getting a virtually new set and a backup set for less than the cost of one new one. Bear in mind Elixirs last much longer than regular due to the Nanoweb coating. Cut for a Fender bass.

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Lozz196 replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Ah so it’s on for this year then, did wonder if they’d gone ahead and done the deed or were going to wait til the next Rebellion. -
I learned to play with a pick and whilst I have recently learned to play finger style I doubt I’ll ever use that method in a band.

Yep, think covers bands in pubs will be hardest hit by this. Gigs on the originals circuit I’m sure will flourish as people will be itching to get back and see their fave bands - I know I’ll be at a good few once it’s safe to do so. -
I was in the crowd in Finsbury Park in 96 for Filthy Lucre by The Sex Pistols on their reform tour. I was also in the Hippodrome Golders Green late 99 for Stiff Little Fingers for one of their live albums, Handheld & Rigidly Digital.

Ideal, have main and backup amp in same case.
-
That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of that but yes, maybe it’s more the hard lacquer on the maple boards than the actual wood itself.

What is the full chain that creates your sound? Finger to ear...

Thanks for the tip, machine set to record both -
Well in the cases of instruments that I’ve owned, I’ve found: Ash tends to have less mids than alder, so sounds a tad brighter. Mahogany has a deeper richer tone than alder. But I stress, this is only in regards to the instruments I’ve owned and where I’ve had the same instrument in both wood varieties in order to make comparison. I would echo the maple/rosewood thing though, at the Herts Bass Bash I think most that were there heard the difference on the shootouts we did.

For some reason or other I never got round to buying this, might have to remedy that situation soon, thanks for the reminder.

Not an album but a single. Never heard GBH before, luckily I loved both the A and B sides. Even more fortunate was fast forwarding some 35 years and playing on the same bill as them.
-
I’ve found with every bass that I’ve had that if the pickups are adjusted to manufacturers height spec that the E string is overpoweringly loud in comparison to the others. As such I lower the pickups to about 1mm height from the body of the instrument and that usually tames it - and then adding in light compression evens it out even further.
