  1. Might not have been the best bass player but he did have one heck of an image. Which is of course why McLaren supported getting him in the band, whereas Rotten wanted to even things up in the mates dept.
  2. We just waited until we were all comfortable. The main driver was the drummer, as he has Crohn’s disease he’s on immuno-suppressants so has to be more careful, once he was ready to go so were we. With this rotten pandemic everyone has different situations, be they medical, family, work etc, and I think Jack’s reaction is the best, when all are ready resume, no putting conditions in.
  3. It looks kind of in the middle of the Ashdown RM and ABM ranges to me.
  4. Agree, that was a great album, just not a traditional Crue album, thought the guitar work on it was excellent

That’s a good idea, I did similar with their Para Driver, no matter what rig I was using FOH got the sound that was needed. Also meant as I was DI’d from that I could adjust eq/volume on whatever amp I was using for on stage sound without it interfering with the mix out front.
  6. Release your inner Lemmy!
  7. It’s gotta be the guy on the Old Spice bottle

KiOgon loom will be a good improvement, much better quality parts. That’s one area where Squier keep costs down, whereas the new loom will most likely be same parts as what go in US Fenders.
  9. It does seem to restrict the amount of cabs that can be connected. Sure we can all use our ears to make sure that cabs aren’t struggling but I like to have my cabs at least equal to the power rating of the amp, just makes me feel that bit more comfortable.
  10. Both sound great, I have the RM500 and the OriginAL pedal. I’d say that you can do more with the RM due to the combination of drive/compression/pre-shape, these make it very versatile but for a solid good bass sound the OriginAL hits it. I use the pedal as my home-practice sound and it’s a really nice sound, tho the valve-drive set to anything other than fully off is far too much for me. And after saying all that I’d be looking at FinnDaves RM800, and then keeping my eyes open for a lightweight cab that can handle 400watts at 8Ohms.

The number of times I nearly bought that one myself, they’re cracking basses, and a real amazement to my why Squier stopped them. Sure Matt Freeman may not be known too well outside of punk but these are amazingly good basses. Congrats.
  12. I had a Sterling by Musicman Ray34 and a “real” Stingray at the same time about 10 years ago. The quality and playability of the Ray34 was so near to the real one, the only difference being that it was slightly toppier/treblier/sizzlier but that old “in the mix who would notice” thing would apply, it was that slight. And given I bought the Ray34 new and the ‘Ray was about 10 years old it could have been any number of factors accounting for that.
  13. It’s funny but I’ve recently bought a 5-string Precision, going back to the 4 feels like picking up a toy.
  14. I remember using those in rehearsal rooms back in the late 80s, great amps.
  15. Thinner/faster, if you find a Precision neck too chunky the Jazz is a less of a handful solution.
  16. Blimey Mick, I bet you’re like dog with 2 of the proverbial re this, ASWAD free locally!
  17. They certainly sound very good on the YouTube review
  18. The simplicity of a good Precision can never be underestimated
  19. That’s a beauty @geoham, I think once the world settles down a bit I’ll do one of these courses, must be very rewarding.
  20. Good choice 👍
  21. Looking for vintage looking & sounding, well I’d go for the Road Worn one that’s up for grabs on here. In terms of comfy vintage feel they’re great, the only comfier to play Precision I’ve played was a Custom Shop Pino Sig.
  22. They’re fine with me, I need the help, though a visible dot suffices, one of the reasons I switched to maple fretboards was better visibility under bright stage lights. Have to say though, on my old Aerodyne Jazz which didn’t have any markers on the fretboard I didn’t find it that off-putting (though never played any brightly lit stages with that bass).
  23. Good call. Given that Mark King used TE and then had Ashdown do the MK500 that makes a lot of sense.
