They’re great basses, still sound Precisiony but not quite so mid-biased. I’ve had a few but as I just use regular Precisions I always move them on as the sound Isn’t what I want for my bands. I still keep thinking of getting another, in the classic butterscotch but as they’re pretty rare they’re about a grand now.

Agree, this range for me is the best, the only ones where I wouldn’t change anything. The 2008-12s were good too, but the pickups were their (only) weak spot imo.

Yep Stringsdirect are always quick

I think that’s probably why I’m hopeful he’s as good as he writes that he is. There’s nothing wrong with being clear minded. In my last band (originals material) we formed from a prior covers band. The singer decided what he wanted to do and put it down in a similar way in an e-Mail to us all. I went with it, the other 2 didn’t, and if I’m honest certainly one of them would have been completely unsuitable not down to ability but due to attitude & commitment. That well worded e-Mail saved us and him from wasting each other’s time.

Or even a BF210 would be pretty decent. Plus if the ABM210 is enough for the gigs then the BF210 would be, and you could add in the BF110 if needed (if the ohms thing works of course). What I would say is don’t expect it to sound anywhere near as full as the ABM410 & 210 though, it will no doubt be as loud but there won’t be that depth - I say that as someone who’s had both an ABM410 & 210 stack and a BF410 & 210 stack. The BF410 on its own was behind the paired ABM cabs in depth, though not by much, so a 210/110 or 210 on its own won’t compete in that aspect.

I must be very lucky, the keyboard player in my current band is very good, gets all the right sounds and keeps out of the way of the bass. And a few bands ago our very own @TransistorBassManwas on keys, again can only say good words about his abilities.

Me too, my fave 2015 Precision has a good chunky neck on it. -
The Players are good basses stock but are also ideal to tweak like this to get everything as liked, congrats.

Bruce Foxton, JJ Burnell, Duff McKagan all guitarists before playing bass (with Duff also being on drums before bass, which I’m sure helped with timing etc).

Aside from no fretboard markers I couldn’t fault my old one, was a great bass.

I was the same, had a Fender Bassman 100w head & 410 in the 80s and without my graphic eq pedal to lower the mids there was gain/distortion that I just didn’t want. So I sold it and bought a Laney Linebacker solid state combo. Funny old game this bass playing lark.

Def, but also bear in mind by your own words you`re not a slap bassist. This audition may have seemed fun, with great guys but maybe if you got the job week in week out slap-bass might have become a chore.

Good point, a bassist I know uses her Ampeg V4B at all her gigs and it’s plenty loud enough for the stages she plays (which are pretty big). I don’t like bass in the monitors too much so when I used her rig it handled all on stage sound for me no worries, connected up to an Ashdown ABM410.

In an old band our drummer was crazy on RHCP, at the time By The Way was out so we did On Mercury, great song to play. -
Great, keep us all posted as I’ll def want one, assuming it will be on CD
-
I think @Merton is ill………..

I would, unless you get a soundcheck you may find the volume from the monitors unsuitable and it may just be a bugbear of mind but I hate seeing bands continually asking for up/down in the monitors, so if only a line check do backline as well.

Give us a clue Tim, we need to send this guy some hate mail!

A classic!

Yeah pretty sure Fender Japan brought out FSR in natural around that time, doubt they’d have done it if US already doing that.
