1.
To have to change the eq for volume reasons is a bit crazy. The cab can take up to 600W clean tone. Just wondering if there isn't enough power coming from the amp? The fact that the amp is clipping sometimes when slapping and the volume is already boosted up?
creating the low frequencies at high volumes requires alot of power (as i understand it) so if you have the lows turned up you will run out of volume quickly and it will swamp the tone. Yes the cab can take 600w but your amp is running at 8ohm so you will at best get 2/3 of your 300w. adding another 8ohm cab will have the amp running at 4ohm and you'll get the full 300w. your gain should be set so the amp only clips (clip light comes on if there is one) if you really dig in, if you boost your lows this will happen quicker so you will have to turn down your gain more. i know the VU meter on my ashdown spikes more with nmore lows added and the tone controls are accumulative so the more you boost them the lower the gain has to be, so i cut my bass a little and up the low mids and mids a little and keep an eye on the spikes when playing. hope tht helps and appologies if its a complete pile of gumph
2. if you go for a rootmaster the RM800 will be monster with that rig
3. you'll only be using about 150watts (ish) with the one cab, adding another 8ohm cab will make the load 4ohm and you'll get the full 300watts edit: ^^ yeah what they said
4.
Absolutely!
think in that video its Jeroen Paul Thesseling, he was replaced by Linus after the recording of Omnivium, so i should have mentioned Thesseling too
5.
Did Duff (GnR) not always play with a pick? Whole of Appetite is one big pick festival if you are looking for a song
yeah duff uses a pick for GnR and Velvet revolver dont think ive ever seen him use fingers. He has a slightly different pick style as its not straight up and down but rather diagonally across the string so the pick kinda slides a bit if that makes sense
6. listening to it now and i had kinda lost interest in muse for a while but this has sparked it off again, have to relisten to their albums now. think their performance is super tight and the sound is awesome

8.
OK so I got a reply from Fender - they confirmed that it is indeed a factory mess up, the bass was built while the special run of crimson red ones were being made and someone has put a neck for a crimson red bass onto a black body. That makes it 'one of a kind' in my book. I'm having it.
lucky spot, need pics when it arrives
9. and the blazers and roadsters are growing on me and in the same vein the ATKs. All looking very very nice
10.
very jealous of all you SR Premium people, but I love my sr506M Here it is on the day I got it about two years ago I'd love an ATK too. Yours looks amazing DeezerButler.
dont think ive ever seen an SR506 (or any SR500 range) with a maple neck, my SR500 have the rosewood fret board. yours looks pretty sweet
11. love his lessons, just wish i had time to work on them his playing is always ace but like others have said if it wasnt for BC then i wouldn't know him and yeah he loves a bass face
12. we tend to keep them apart as we do two songs from a couple of artists, except the elvis ones our singer wanted to do so they get done together (gets them outta the way). But if one of them goes down particularly well we may play the other one straight after and usually goes down well. Just see how it goes really
13. theres loads i could mention and most have already been mentioned but my current listens are Linus Klausenitzer - Obscura (mind blowingly good), Alkaloid, Noneuclid Arif Mirabdolbaghi - Protest the hero (sadly no longer with the band) Dominic "Forest" Lapointe - Beyond Creation (again no longer with the band, their new bassist is pretty handy too), Teramobil Duff McKagan - He's the reason i play bass and i learnt all of Guns and Roses songs to learn the bass, just solid Les Claypool - hes a god and bonkers
14. we go through the pa post eq if we are doing a larger gig but most is vocals and maybe a bit of drums (mostly kick) through the pa for normal gigs. we have been trying IEMs but i'm not keen yet but that may just be getting the settings right. Would i do away with my rig behind me? i dont think so, feeling the bass as well as hearing it is just as important and if it only going through front of house then i'm not going to feel it. Just my opinion of course
15. and another one, loved Countdown to Extinction which got me into their other stuff
16. currently play 5 but would have no problem playing any of them if we decided to. playing to a room of people who are completely disinterested is no fun at all.
17. voted no, my head is light but my cab certainly isnt so guess my rig isnt
18.
Mine arrived today, very impressed with it, looks the business and sounds really nice at front room volume, trying it at any real volume has to wait till the weekend though.
arrgl good job i'm broke
19. i recently bought a 5 string and while the neck dimensions was no problem the string spacing still catches me out occasionally as i was so used to the slightly wider string spacing of my 4 string. You cant go far wrong with an ibanez as they are alot of bass for the money though i cant comment on the jackson. best to try both if you can though so you can see which neck suits and what sound you prefer
20. the mag cabs are great and the toneman are just rebadged mags, mines been going for years and had plenty of good comments about my sound. but if you can get them second hand then do it. worth trying out in a shop if you get the chance though
21. the roomaster RM800 is an excellent little amp, plenty loud and light and comes with a handy carry bag
22. not bad, seems better than their last few which i just didnt get but then BSSM is always going to be hard to live up to.
