1. hi hopeing some of you knowledgable folk can help, ive already asked this on the Behringer site but hoping i might get a quick response here. We recently upgraded our desk to the X32 Rack and are well happy with the sound we get from it. Been a bit of a learning curve from an analogue desk as it can do so much ( i dont operate the desk btw but i've been trying to get the IEMs working with the X32-Q iphone app. The problem we have is that even though we are getting a mix through to the IEMs and we can set the X32-Q app to the relevant mix buses/channels on the headphone amp we cant seem to control the volume of each channel on the app and worse still adjusting the sliders in the app can affect the FOH which it clearly shouldnt do, it can only turn the FOH up though not down. So we have so far had to go with what our guitarist (he does the mix setup) can give us. So has anyone had experience with this desk and using the iphone app and may have come across this issue, its probably something simple we've setup wrong.
2.
I've also just seen the price of a new Stingray and Bongo. WHAT?!?!??! Glad I got those a few years back.
????£1200 more than what i paid in 94!! makes me selling it hurt even more knowing i'll never get another
3. the only time i get to play is when we rehearse unfortunately i just dont have the time with life just getting in the way. so thats every 2 weeks for 4 hours but thats just practising our set list or learning new songs. if we have new songs i will try and squeeze time at home to learn them so i'm ready for practise. Would love to have a hour everyday to actually learn the theory but it doesnt seem to affect my playing in our covers band.
4. nice, i like the fact its almost off white but not yellow and that tort guard is nice cos its dark. i dont need one though and fortunately i cant afford one
5.
Very relevant. What you often get in a rehearsal space, especially one with low ceilings, are cancellations from the waves reflected off nearby boundaries. When you move away the distance that those reflections travel increases, taking the cancellation frequencies down below where they affect you. The same thing happens in close quarters on a stage versus out in the audience. This phenomenon led to the myth of wave propagation, the silly notion that you can't hear long wavelengths at close distances. The wags who came up with that idea clearly had never used headphones.
when we practice we practice in a circle, seems to work and if i'm too loud or guitarist we can tell each other because we are 20ft (at least) away from each other. we're very lucky with our rehearsal space. also i get one of my band mates to pluck away on my bass and i'll have a wander round the room, helps get levels
6. Ouch that sucks, hopefully you'll get a replacement thats better packed and better handled (dont hold your breath)
7. nice buy, i always wanted a GK amp but it would have to be RB, i blame duff. i was considering one of these when buying recently but stuck with what i knew i liked
8. just did a little search for franz basses and found this video, sounds as good as it looks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AZlc7B7E8g
9. very nice and i dont really like single cuts normally, the carving on the back where the neck meets the body is reall nice. Bet it looks better in the flesh too
10.
Jeepers...I had a listen. Really, really not for me. Best I can describe is you know when youre a bit stressed and you get a dull ache in your chest? Listening to it was a bit like that. I was just willing it to get going. It was actually making me feel anxious.
i know its not for everyone
11.
They were about £750 new at that time (I have the original bill for mine) - however £300 from a shop is a big drop.
must have been new then but my memory is VERY hazy from that time, far to much recrational wotsits
12. weve just upgraded our pa with a new desk and some subs, we've also gone in ear monitoring but regardless i want the audience to here the sound ive set from my amp not the sound the sound guy wants so i'm post eq. sound guy in our band is our lead guitarist and i can stop him messing with the signal. still use a backline as well as i only have one ear in so i can hear the natural sound
13. fret board could do with a really good clean, would have thought they would have at least done that for that much money and that scratch plate is awful
14. i bought a Musicman Stingray in 93/94 for about £800 used from a shop in manchester with my student loan so i had to live very carefully but i had to have it. It was natural clear finish with maple neck and fret board i had the foam mutes on the bridge too. 2 band eq. sounded awesome. i loved it it was my dream bass. fast forward a few years and we were skint and the washing machine had broke so the only thing of value i had was the ray and the laney amp i had. took it to the local guitar shop and he would only give me £300 for the pair. but we needed the money still feel sick thinking about that now
15. not to bothered about getting comments but the best one i had was from my band mates when after i had a hiatus from the band they said they could find someone as good and would i rejoin. i think the best complement is the audience being into what we are playing. being singled out doesnt mattter to me
16. currently watching/listening to them live at Bonnaroo, deliriously good. Les is his usual imperious self and Sean can really rip it up on guitar and dont arf sound like his dad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAEHyKi0eP8 just putting it up here for those that may have an interest. Slightly more normal songs but nothing is going to be totally normal with Les involved
17.
Brownout 1000, built by my friend Nate Wolfe:
i like the "insanity amplification" label on the front. but it is completely bonkers overkill
18. good choice, the 500s are excellent basses dont think i'll ever sell mine
19.
Ibanez was my first thought, loads of bass for the money. Second hand, as always, is key to get the best you can get at that kind of budget
yep, ibanez would be the way to go if you like thin necks, the SR500 is excellent value for money and while it doesnt come with a passive switch it does have a mid frequency selector (on the newer models) but if you go second hand you can pick up an excellent bass for not much money. the 500 also has an excellent range of tones on tap. get out and try a few
20. was looking at the birthchild of this the other day which is the Sharlee D'Angelo sig bass. nice metal bass (not made of)
21.
I think that misses the point here. A single crack in the varnish isn't "reliced" as most people understand it. To me, this just seems like shop damage being passed off as reliced. I could be wrong though. I was wrong about something else about 30 years ago so it's not impossible. Frank.
twas what i thunk, and add to that the suhr website makes no mention of doing relic finishes (but then i'm often wrong)
22.
A new Chapman Stick one from me:
excellent, good to here ther some new Xerath stuff coming, loved the first three albums
23. wonder why the bbc cut Hysteria out of the set? thought it was excellent and is definately my favourite song of theirs
24. to be fair its what i read on here, but ye live and learn
25.
Watts don't matter. You don't measure sound levels in watts, you measure it in decibels, and there's no direct correlation between the two. If there was a Vox AC30 wouldn't make your ears bleed from fifty feet away, nor would anyone be able to gig with an Ampeg B15. The simple fact of the matter is if you can't get the volume you want with one cab you need two cabs.
eh? so what ive been told is all lies i stand corrected, though whats the point in buying an 800watt amp over a 300 if they dont matter
