Stolen bass... Today I was given some old gear from a coworker who sold his house and is abandoning his studio. Among it is a hand built precision from the Netherlands. I had never heard of the builder so I searched google and found the man's Facebook page. I noticed he had 2 mutual friends. Posted him photo's of the bass asking if it is from his hand and it was indeed. I had also posted 3 pics of it on FB, stating I was handed this bass and I did not know the brand. It did not take long for the rightful owner to recognize his custom made bass which had been stolen from his rehearsal room more then 25 years ago! He showed me pics to prove it, and some social media posts from 2017 of him searching for his lost treasure. Today, I found him his bass and soon as I noticed it is his, I rang him up and gave him my address. Tomorrow he will pick it up. That will be quite a moment for sure! Happy days.28 points

Just completed an overseas sale. Lots of extra issues now post-brexit of course but what I wanted to mention was the inclusion of an Apple AirTag. For £29 we were able to keep an eye on the progress of the bass as it left the Country, got held at customs (very helpful because the courrier tracking suggested it was being delivered at the time), and then tracking in the destination country all the way to it's new home. Clearly a few quid extra cost but for a higher value transaction a lot of added piece of mind!!!12 points

Scientists: We're going to send an unmanned spacecraft on a 7 month 120 million mile journey, where we will land a vehicle in a precise place on another planet to spend 2 years making detailed studies. Public: Wow, that's amazing! I can't even begin to comprehend how you'd do that. Scientists: Also, if you wear a simple piece of cloth ply over your face, like surgeons do every day, you can keep from spreading a nasty virus to other people. Public: Oh f*** off, you know nothing.10 points

Whilst cleaning my teeth this morning with an electric toothbrush I found I could do a passable facsimilie of 'Livin On A Prayer'. I may have dribbled toothpasty spit down my front but consider it a small price to pay. That is all.8 points

I've recently started recording all my own review videos for Bass Gear Magazine based in Ohio. Yes, I still write for Bass Player Magazine as I have been every month for the last (nearly) two and a half years, but I would love for you to follow this magazine and YouTube channel too! https://www.bassgearmag.com https://www.youtube.com/c/BassGearMagazine/videos It does mean that I've not been posting to my own channel, but would really appreciate a follow there too, please!! https://www.youtube.com/c/DanVeallBassist I want to produce the best videos I can, so I'll be keeping an eye on threads like these to improve my content!7 points

Yesterday the COV002 trial 'unblinded' me -- i.e. I was told whether I'd been in the vaccine group or the control group. Turns out I had the vaccine. Still no long-term side effects to report. Apart from growing the flippers, and the extra head.7 points

After months of mucking about on guitar because it was more interesting, I picked up one of my basses this evening and played. It was so much more satisfying. I'll always be a bass player.7 points

Dog walks into a post office, says he wants to send a telegram. "OK" says the clerk, "what's the message?" The dog says, "Woof woof woof, woof woof woof woof woof, woof woof." Clerk says, "OK, but for the same price, you can add one more 'woof'". The dog frowns and replies, "But then it wouldn't make any sense."5 points

My daughter wants to play! Happy days! Also twice as much gear to buy which I see as an additional plus point. She quickly dropped playing guitar after a couple of tries but has stuck at 4 strings and asks me to use a bass almost every night. She got the bug big time and is soooo excited by anything and everything bass. I'm loving it ❤️5 points

Waiting for the call after an audition (on lead guitar) this afternoon. Did everything I could think of to make it work in my favour - learned more songs than they asked for, spent time on getting the sounds right, got there early, did some BVs. I defo want the gig (1 year dep slot) - just have to be patient now.5 points

Nice start to the day today. Came downstairs to find a very tired looking white-tailed bumblebee stumbling about on the hall floor. I recalled reading something about bees responding well to a bit of energy and hydration, so i mixed a tiny bit of sugar in a splash of water on the end of a teaspoon, and held it down in front of the bee. It found it and immediately started to drink, I could see its tongue lapping it up. After slurping for a couple of minutes it stopped and visibly began to revive, so I took it outside. It headed straight for some flowers and started doing what bees do, looking a lot healthier. My feelgood moment for the day.5 points
