  1. Past hour
  2. Car windscreen shipping boxes are in the same camp. Very sturdy. It's a bit of work chopping one down but end result is solid.
  3. I've also stumbled across some folk suggesting through body stringing being preferred for mainly fingerstyle players. Does that make a great difference to the feel too? None of mine are through body strung. Edit: Scrub this question. Found a good chat on it via a web search and synopsis on the balace seems to be negligible difference. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/thoughts-on-thru-body-vs-bridge-stringing-on-same-bass.1484499/page-2
  4. It was a short scale! I bought it off ebay (only £60!) as I wanted a PBass in the fold and then realised it may be short scale before it arrived, which it was. I had already planned to swap over the pickups and hardware from my older project Warlock, but then decided to swap the neck too. Neck fit like a glove, scale from nut to bridge checked out, and was able to get intonation set ok. It's very light, but perhaps having a light one in the group isn't a bad thing for when my back's having an off day!
  5. Today
  6. Thanks all. It never occurred to me that the nut width may be different on the two basses. I'm going to keep playing them all and look really close at setup soon. I wanted to know what to look for soon as I still want to build up a dual humbucker five string at some point, and would rather that sat in my sweet spot!
  7. Just come across this thread... Used one of these briefly in the mid 70's and quickly changed it for an Orange valve amp. Worst bass amp l have ever played through by more than a country mile! I hope you didn't buy it mate...
  8. There’s a 5 string one of these for sale with a John East pre on here somewhere. This is an insanely good bass for under £300!
  9. yo-you do know theres two versions of the rumble 40 don't you? if you can pickup the 40 modelling model-its a cracker ! and fun to use too boot.....
  10. That's very kind of you sir! I appreciate it. I know that's there's another new bass player out there that needs it more. Thanks for thinking of me
  11. Aah, good choice. Reason I asked is I have a new Rumble 40 here in Dallas which I was going to offer for free. I bought it when I moved into an apartment here but then decided (for the sake of my neighbours) that a headphone setup would be kinder for all involved! Glad you’re sorted.
  12. Not exactly lol. I found a used hartke rig and jumped on it. It's sounds super sweet!
  13. Did you get sorted with the Rumble 40?
  14. Here's Event Horizon, where I aimed for a 70s Krautrock feel. It is is about looking into, and being pulled over the Event Horizon of a black hole which might actually be a wormhole into a parallel universe.
  15. Yesterday
  16. Sky Arts has disappeared (again) from my Freeview channels. No channel 36 listed. Tried retuning a few times but to no avail. Anyone else got the same problem? (Or a solution). I'm really missing it. It's my most watched channel by far.

  18. The thing about Eurovision nowadays is it's become too self-conscious. Put simply, it's not quite good enough to be good, but it's not quite bad enough to be entertaining either. Eurovision used to be captivating because of it's unintentional quirkiness. Now that it's contrived to be that way it's lost that unique charm it once had. I
  19. Nostalgia for Stock Aitken and Waterman. I never thought I would see the day.
  20. Waiting for me to find £1200 down the back of my couch
  21. One thing leads to another - Tight Fit
  22. I think it's called the Kiesel JB5 now, with 70s pickup spacing. The original Carvin was 60s pickup spacing (I believe)... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MDJfA-uSe4&t=63s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puB1ShoQd20
  23. Significant step up, sound quality is much better, tuner on the device and there is an octaver (2 even) Clean sound is great. Fx’s are good enough for when I practice and as above there are octavers. I won’t have to break out any of my pedals for practice now.
  24. I have four sets of short-scale (30" scale, 760mm) roundwounds, bought second-hand a decade ago when I had something which probably fitted them - I never got round to it. The Rotosounds, the La Bellas and the Newtones appear to be stainless steel. The Optima Golds are, um, gold? I don't know what the actual metal is. They've all been opened; the Rotosounds and the Newtones have never been fitted; the La Bellas have been partly fitted (2 never fitted); the Optima Golds are cut 2+2 and there is some wear to the silks. I have little idea how to price these so my preference is to sell them as a job lot. £75 for the lot, posted, within the UK (outside the UK, let me know but probably there would be tariffs). PayPal without charges (preferred), or bank transfer.
