  1. Past hour
  2. Without any of that provenance evidence then probably not, but if it makes it worth more to you then who cares what everyone else thinks.
  3. Ah, but it will niggle you and it could hinder your performance. I had a Basic VM, it played great and although it sounded fine, there was something characterless about it and I eventually moved it on. Thinking back, a change of electronics was probably the correct way forward (I forget what I did next, it certainly didn’t stick). I be tempted to go Nordstrand, Carey’s products seem to have bags of character and tone.
  4. Saw them a few years ago and that bass of his sounded phenominal. I had the ES-335 and can agree that it is a superb bass.
  5. Stunning - As the OP said, one of the finest Precision shaped objects money can buy.
  6. Hi Alan, at the risk of sounding like an echo Bill is spot on again. I think that with a 120W 1x12 you are always going to be at the borderline of being loud enough, assuming you are playing some sort of pop/rock with a drummer in the band. It's worth thinking about this long term. If it's important to you to keep that exact tone then an extension cab is an option but qiuite expensive if you are buying new. It would pay you to have a bit of a think about what you are aiming to do before commiting too much money. What is your amp for apart from making the bass louder. Is it just an on-stage monitor for you and band members to hear? Your current amp will probably do that, no need to change things in too much of a hurry. Does it need to be loud enough for the audience to hear and if so how big is that audience likely to be? It's far better for the audience to hear your bass via the PA. Lot's of reasons why but mainly: a.) Something loud enough for the back of the room or outdoors is going to be literally deafening on-stage b) anything that loud is going to go through the vocal mics and a distorted version is going to go through the PA and muddy up your band's sound. It might be better and no more expensive to beef up your PA.
  7. And you can download a ton of other captures on it too.
  8. For sale is my beautiful Modulus Bassstar with Koa body. These are pretty rare. The bass has been used a lot, which shows. The body has a lot of small damages and usermarks. The neck is in good condition. All hardware and electronics (vol, pickup select, bass/treble) work like they should. Playability is good. It’s quite a light instrument with its 3,8kg. Asking €1850 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I could ship at buyers risk. No trades.
  9. Always really annoying when some buffoon manages to damage your bass - especially when their excuses begin.
  10. WOW at least he's gonna be ok so that's good news. All our best to him as it must have been a scary time for him. Dave
  11. So sorry to hear the sad news about your Mum. As always our thoughts are with you at such a difficult time. Gig looked a great night and nice to focus on something else at this sad time. All the very best Dave and everyone at BC.
  12. These are basically a German-made Rockbass, before the Chinese versions came into being. Not a ridiculous price but still a bargain nevertheless.
  13. Yeah, most certainly. I explained that I myself had the neck on and off without issue (same as on 5+ other p-basses over the years) but he insisted it is both a bad neck design by Fender and that they always put the paint on too thick. Very frustrating experience!
  14. I always gig new gear at the earliest opportunity.
  15. As some of you may (or may not) know. I live in deepest darkest rural Bulgaria in a small village with only about 300 people. So imagine my delight when I recently met a guy from the UK who's just bought a house in my village, who is not only a guitarist but also a qualified sound engineer and has his own recording studio in the UK. He's planning on bringing all his gear over soon which comprises of everything you would expect from a good recording studio, including a live state set up. Loads of instruments, several drum kits, mics, and lots of old valvey goodness amps. I think he's going to be my new best friend. 😆
  16. Today
  17. it does - I didn't mind the jamman as I wouldn't expect to have that in a multieffects. Maybe I didn't give it a chance, I heard a review where it sounded good, I will give it another spin in case I missed it. oh I forgot to say, although at the gig I used it on power as it was on my pedal board, being able to run it on batteries is great too
  18. Hello hello As you may have seen, I build a website for my basses but it's not in english (I had a discount on this website builder but it does not support mutlilanguage support tsss), so since my last two basses (the one introduced "officialy" and the fretless) I've been quite busy (in bass making but in the garden and house too) so here's a little update ; I build my "first" 5 string as a prototype for templates and adjustements but I'm quite happy with the result ! I admit I was not sure about the natural whitey maple but after all it's classy. The Bartolini M45 are coming (from USA...) and the Res-O-Lite are on their way too... Here's the beast: As it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get Hipshot B style in 18mm (5B500BB-708), I'm currently hesitating between these A style and Gotoh bridges (I like Gotoh and it's way more easy to find, and cheaper too). I've made a little contrasting ramp with a nice piece of Ovangkol/Amazakoué so as the truss cover. Could become my very personal 5 string bass And I started a batch of 4 basses ; two 4 strings and two 5 strings, so far I've realized the 5 string bodies ; a simple 2-piece walnut and a more fancy ash/bocote, bot are oiled, waiting another coat and waxing. So far so good, I can't wait to introduce to you the whole batch ! (nothing fancy except this bocote one but I'm working really more on details) Cheers Marco
